Arn Anderson Reveals Why John Cena Was Chosen As WWE’s Top Star

John Cena is certainly a once-in-a-lifetime talent. Much like Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock, Cena goes down in history as one of the WWE all-time greats. But how did he find himself in that position? Arn Anderson has the answers.

An Opportunity Appears…

When it became clear that the WWE would need a replacement for Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock, they started looking for a new face for the company. They eventually found it in John Cena. Cena had many of the attributes the company was looking for in a superstar.

Whichever superstar would follow in the footsteps of Stone Cold and Rock would have to be someone with great personality and a good work ethic. Evidently, there are were many wrestlers that met that description.

Three Major Superstars To Choose From

John Cena was not the only WWE superstar who drew the attention of management. After all, Cena came up with guys like Batista and Randy Orton, who became legends in their own right. According to Arn Anderson, Vince McMahon proposed an idea during a production meeting.

“Guys we’re gonna move on. Here are the three guys that I want you to look at. And it needs to be one of these guys, or all of these guys. But these are the guys we’re going to go with.”

Arn Anderson reveals that Vince wanted Dave Batista, Cena and Orton as the faces of the company, or at least one of them. However, Cena became the final choice.

What Made John Cena Stand Out As The Face Of The WWE?

Arn Anderson reveals that it was a conscious decision.

He was also full of praise for the other two men, Dave Batista and Randy Orton.

Anderson says that Batista was the face of SmackDown, while Randy Orton was a natural. Cena on the other hand, remained the constant babyface.

The babyface career of John Cena helped him to become the face of the company.

Randy Orton had multiple heel turns in the beginning of his career, while Batista left for Hollywood. So, the choice of top star became quite obvious for WWE management.

John Cena Will Always Be A Wrestler First

Despite his current success in Hollywood, John Cena will always be a wrestler first. The reason why we say that is his love for the business.

He is currently expanding on his career by going to Hollywood, but this certainly has something to do with getting older.

Cena could have focused on making movies many years ago, but he only started considering it seriously when his body could not keep up with the WWE schedule anymore.

And, despite his hectic schedule, he still finds the time for a match at WrestleMania this year.

In conclusion, John Cena is one of the biggest superstars of the wrestling world. He’s included in the ranks with The Rock, Hulk Hogan, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and other legends. As soon as he retires, we have no doubt he will be inducted in the Hall of Fame with lightning speed.
