Hell In A Nutshell: Who Will The Cell Change Tonight?

The WWE has had a crazy week. We had the RAW “season premiere”, which gave us an interesting enough show. NXT had it’s first two hours on USA, head to head with AEW. In return, we got Finn Balor returning, along with Tommaso Ciampa. Friday was, of course, the debut of SmackDown on Fox, where we saw a new WWE Champion crowned, and Cain Velasquez debuting. Tonight caps off a crazy span of a week with Hell In A Cell. Who will the Cell change tonight? Let’s crack open this Nutshell and find out!

Best Match of the night:

We have a few options.

Right out of the gate for the main card, we had Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks, in the Cell, for Becky’s RAW Women’s Championship. Strong match, and in my opinion, the best on the card.

Right after this match, we had the tornado tag team match between Harper and Rowan and Reigns and Bryan.

I’d go for the women’s match that opened the main show, but neither is a bad choice.

Worst match of the night:

The main event, The Fiend versus Seth Rollins. How in the world do we have a referee stopping a Cell match because it got too violent? I thought one of the points of the Cell was to get out of hand and be crazy with the violence?

Star of the Night

I have a few options.

To both Becky and Sasha for their show-opening effort.

Roman and Daniel for a really enjoyable, if unlikely, tag match.

Spot of the Night:

I won’t go the route of singling out a specific one, but I will say that Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks did a nice job of breathing some new life into a Cell match. Some really nice spots in their match alone.

Holy Sh** Moment of the Night:

This one, for me and I’d bet a lot of others, has to be the ending of the Universal Championship match. Who knew a Cell match could be too violent? I certainly didn’t. And odd…and bad and unpopular…ending.

Cringeworthy Moment of the night:

Would have been LOL…but the 24/7 Championship has gone downhill quickly. It’s just painful to watch at the moment.

Noteworthy Moment:

Lost in the shuffle of things, perhaps, but we have ourselves a couple title changes.

The Kabuki Warriors are (finally) your WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions.

In addition to that change, Charlotte defeated Bayley to become the SmackDown Women’s Champion

Overall lowlights:

The overall quality of the card…just didn’t feel like it was all put together.

The lack of a WWE Championship match, as that title was sacrificed to the Fox gods on Friday.

Not a satisfying close to the show

Overall highlights:

A few good to great matches opening the show.

A couple pretty strong ones in the mid-card too.

After the final bell:

I think I came into this one riding on a wave of high expectations. I expected things to build off of the previous week, but I was largely wrong. Sure, we opened with some great action, but that ending alone really ruined things for me. I was a big fan of the idea that The Fiend needed this win tonight to keep his momentum rolling. Alas, I was very wrong.
