Brock Lesnar’s New WWE Deal, Lio Rush’s Future

– In the past, Brock Lesnar has admitted to signing short term deals as it provides the upper hand when negotiating a new deal. That does not seem to be the case right now as the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Lesnar’s current WWE deal ends in May or June of 2020.

For the past several years, Lesnar has used the UFC for leverage while also talking to WWE. With Lesnar announcing his retirement from MMA, that left few options (like All Elite Wrestling) and he will be around for at least another year.

After dropping the Universal Championship to Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 35, Lesnar would make an unadvertised return in the main event of Money in the Bank. He won the briefcase and has teased a cash-in on several occasions. The last tease took place at Super ShowDown, which is also the last appearance Lesnar has made on TV.

With SummerSlam two months away, there is a decent chance that Lesnar appears. He has worked the main event slot of SummerSlam for the past several years. 

– It has been a few months since fans saw Lio Rush on TV and there are currently no plans being discussed about his future. Rush was removed from TV because of massive heat from WWE officials and talent. He had a reputation of running his mouth about being such a major star and also brought his family to rehearsals.

Before getting yanked from TV, Rush was in the corner of Bobby Lashley. Rush was never officially written off TV as WWE simply removed him and has made no mention of the superstar.

WWE did offer Rush a new contract, but he reportedly rejected it because he believes a better deal is out there. He remains on WWE’s payroll, but they might continue to pay him and just keep him off TV until his contract expires.

On Rush’s social media accounts, there is no longer any references to WWE.
