Dana White Clarifies Brock Lesnar Rumor

– One of the biggest stories last year and part of 2019 was Brock Lesnar’s future. He seemed set for a UFC return as he reentered the USADA testing pool and a potential fight with Daniel Cormier was teased. In the end, Lesnar decided to retire from MMA and is now with WWE. There was speculation that Lesnar wanted a piece of the pay per view buys and the UFC would not budge, but Dana White is denying those claims.

“That’s not why Brock Lesnar didn’t fight,” said White on ESPN. “Brock Lesnar got a better deal is basically what happened for Brock. And if you really look when we were on pay-per-view, we were on traditional pay-per-view, everybody was talking about how the pay-per-view business was dying. It’s dying and nobody can pull numbers anymore.”

White said in the end that Vince McMahon offered Lesnar a deal that he could not pass up and the UFC would not counter. We have no idea how long Lesnar is under contract with WWE as he typically signs short term deals. He just appeared at Super ShowDown from Saudi Arabia, where he nearly cashed-in his Money in the Bank briefcase. Seeing how he is still in possession of the briefcase, it appears Lesnar is not going anywhere at the moment.

There is always a chance that Lesnar could return to UFC or even head to All Elite Wrestling as Chris Jericho has been angling for a match. As always, Lesnar is in high demand.
