Alaskan Bush People’s Rain Brown Posts on Instagram About ‘Giving Up

Young people take a lot of flak for being incapable of handling disappointments in life. But 16-year-old “Alaskan Bush People” star Rain Brown showed maturity and understanding beyond her years in a recent post on Instagram.

Speaking out about pain.

Next to an image with the text “Pain is inevitable. Suffering is optional,” Rain wrote:

“To anyone that feels like giving up: some days you feel defeat. You try so hard, you get strong and motivated and after all of your efforts you’re once again let down.

“Pain is something not many will talk about,” she continued. “Pain of the past, pain of the present, and fear of pain in the future. Let me tell you now you are being too hard on yourself. Your efforts didn’t fail. Your motivational tactics still work. You’re still strong. But sometimes things fail. Not because of us, but just because that’s the way it’s meant to be.”

“It’s often quite ugly to examine, but quite useful nonetheless. We all have pain but suffering is something we control.”

What to do when you want to give up?

Rain didn’t just lament that bad things happen, she goes on to offer some sage advice to anyone struggling with feelings of defeat.

“So when you think about giving up, think to yourself, “what would happen if I didn’t?”” she writes. “The answer is, you will never know if you do. You can give up anytime. What’s the rush? Let’s see what tomorrow brings together ♥️”

“Thank you for reading. Inspirational posts every Wednesday. #staystrong#stayhappy,” she finished cheekily.

The teen shared that she struggles with deep depression that makes it hard to get out of bed some days. But, despite the crushing effects of depression, it’s great that Rain can share her insights on acceptance and perseverance with others who are struggling or love someone who is.
