Sally Field Reveals Her Worst On-Screen Kisser – ‘A Lot Of Drooling’

The legendary star Sally Field has kissed many famous men onscreen during her decades-long career in Hollywood, but there’s one that sticks out in her mind for all the wrong reasons. In a recent interview, the two-time Oscar winner revealed who the worst kisser is of all her leading men, and his identity may shock you.

Field’s Worst Onscreen Kiss

While appearing on “Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen” earlier this month, Field dropped a bomb when she revealed that her ex-boyfriend Burt Reynolds was her worst onscreen kiss!

“Should I really name names? This is going to be a shocker, so hold on, folks,” said Field, 76. “It’s Burt Reynolds.”

“Really?” a stunned Andy Cohen asked as the audience gasped.

Field and Reynolds kissed many times in the 1977 hit movie Smokey and the Bandit, according to Fox News.

“Weren’t you dating at the time?” Cohen asked, referring to the fact that the pair dated from 1976 until 1980.

“It was just not something he did very well,” Field added, with Cohen responding, “Isn’t that something.”

Field went on to say that though she could provide further details, “you probably don’t want to hear it.”

“I kind of do,” Cohen interjected. “The tongue? The tongue?”

“No, we’re not totally involved [with the kiss], it was just a lot of drooling,” Field said.

“Wow, alright,” Cohen concluded. “Thank you for sharing, Sally. I appreciate it, I really do.”

Reynolds Claimed Field Was ‘The Love Of His Life’

Before Reynolds died of a heart attack in 2018 at the age of 82, he referred to Field as “the love of his life” and said that he still missed her “terribly.”

“Even now, it’s hard on me,” he told Vanity Fair in 2015. “I don’t know why I was so stupid. Men are like that, you know. You find the perfect person, and then you do everything you can to screw it up.”

In an interview with Variety earlier this year, however, Field was quick to shut this down.

“He was not someone I could be around,” she said. “He was just not good for me in any way.”

Field added that Reynolds “somehow invented in his rethinking of everything that I was more important to him than he had thought, but I wasn’t. He just wanted to have the thing he didn’t have. I just didn’t want to deal with that.”

Field Honored Reynolds After His Death

Though Field did not attend Reynolds’ funeral, she did issue a kind statement after his death.

“There are times in your life that are so indelible, they never fade away. They stay alive, even forty years later,” she said at the times, according to Yahoo News. “My years with Burt never leave my mind. He will be in my history and my heart, for as long as I live. Rest, Buddy.”

While Reynolds was still alive, Field tried to refrain from commenting on him publicly. After he declared her to be “the love of his life” in 2015, Field responded only by telling People Magazine at the time,“I have no response, really, and any response I would have would belong to him.”

It’s clear that Fields and Reynolds had quite a complicated relationship. While the world will never know what really went on between them behind the scenes, it’s likely for the best that Reynolds didn’t live to see Field label him as the worst onscreen kisser of her career!

James Conrad

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
