Rey Fenix Injury Update, Brock Lesnar Nixed Match With Jinder Mahal

Rey Fenix took a nasty bump tjrough a table and here is an injury update. Also, Brock Lesnar passed on a match with Jinder Mahal.

Rey Fenix Injury Update

Fenix and Penta entered Dynamite as AEW Tag Team Champions. Unfortunately, they lost the titles against Jurassic Express last night.

Fenix suffered an injury during a scary spot in the match. He landed awkwardly on his arm when Luchasaurus hit a chokeslam through a table.

Fenix’s arm bent backward, and the talent was screaming after the fact. The ending of the bout was rushed as Jungle Boy rolled up Penta for the three-count and win.

AEW replayed the injury a number of times before the match finished. Fenix didn’t look like he was doing so well at the end of everything.

AEW Fenix May Need Surgery For This Injury – Update

Both Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez chimed in on Fenix’s injury during a recent Wrestling Observer Radio. Both men believe that the AEW superstar may need surgery.

Dave also speculated that Fenix had a dislocated elbow. It was clear that he was in a tremendous amount of pain when he hit the floor.

Jungle Boy also looked worried as the match ended. It’s a sad way to drop a championship, but both Fenix and Penta had a great tag team title run.

Here’s hoping Fenix has a speedy recovery. On behalf of everyone here at WNZ, we can’t wait to see his big return back to action, when the time comes.

Over to the land of the WWE, Brock Lesnar is a marquee superstar. This means that he has some influence on the creative side of things and who he gets to work with.

This can be a great thing if the Beast Incarnate likes you. If not, it could mean you get passed over for major matches.

Brock Lesnar Nixed Match With Jinder Mahal

It’s undeniable that Brock Lesnar is one of the WWE’s top superstars. He’s also a pretty big draw, with mainstream appeal.

Back in 2017, he used that power to change the setup of the Survivor Series main event. Before the pay-per-view (PPV), Jinder Mahal held the WWE title and Lesnar was Universal Champion.

In fact, Mahal was champion for about six months that year. That is until he lost the belt during a SmackDown episode to AJ Styles, prior to the big event.

With that said, this wasn’t the “original” plan for the 2017 Survivor Series. Brock was supposed to go up against Mahal … until Lesnar stepped in.

Brock Didn’t Want To Work With The Modern Day Maharaja

Dave Meltzer reminisces about that fateful year on his latest Wrestling Observer Radio. Mahal and Lesnar were supposed to go toe-to-toe during the 2017 Survivor Series until Brock said he didn’t want to work with him.

As such, The Phenomenal One ended up winning the WWE Championship before WWE’s November Big Four PPV. The Beast and Styles actually ended up having an incredible match that night.

How would things have gone between Brock and Mahal if the WWE put its foot down? Fans will never know.
