Aaron Rodgers Fires Off Brilliant Response After Being Called ‘Biggest Jerk’ In The NFL

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers had the perfect response when asked about NFL-award voter Herb “Hub” Arkush’s controversial comments to Sports Illustrated saying he would not vote for Rodgers as this year’s MVP because he is the “biggest jerk in the league.”

Arkush is one of a 50-member panel voting for the Associated Press NFL Most Valuable Player Award. Rodgers received the award last year.

Aaron Rodgers Gets Attacked By League MVP Voter

Sports commentator Hub Arkush is the editor and general manager of Chicago Football and ChicagoFootball.com. Chicago, as everyone knows, is the arch rival of Green Bay. Rodgers has played with the Packers for 16 years.

“I don’t think you can be the biggest jerk in the league and punish your team, and your organization and your fan base the way he did and be the Most Valuable Player,” Arkush said of Rodgers this week, according to Sports Illustrated.

“I just think that the way he’s carried himself is inappropriate,” he added. “I think he’s a bad guy, and I don’t think a bad guy can be the most valuable guy at the same time.”

Aaron Rodgers Responds To ‘Biggest Jerk’ Callout

When asked about Arkush’s comments, Rodgers fired back by calling him a “bum” and theorizing that his issues stem from the fact the Green Bay player remains unvaccinated against COVID-19.

“I think he’s a bum,” Rodgers said, according to NFL.com. “I think he’s an absolute bum. He doesn’t know me. I don’t know who he is. No one knew who he was, probably, until yesterday’s comments.”

“I listened to the comments, but to say, he had his mind made up in the summertime, in the offseason that I had zero chance of winning MVP, in my opinion should exclude future votes,” he continued. “His problem isn’t with me being a bad guy or the biggest jerk in the league because he doesn’t know me, he doesn’t know anything about me. I’ve never met him. I’ve never had lunch with him. I’ve never had an interview with him.”

NFL’s ‘Most Valuable Vaccinated Player’

Rodgers has his own theories about why Arkush has a problem with him.

“His problem is I’m not vaccinated,” Rodgers added. “If he wants to go on a crusade and collude and come up with an extra letter to put on the award just for this season and make it the Most Valuable Vaccinated Player, then he should do that. But he’s a bum, and I’m not going to waste any time worrying about that stuff. He doesn’t know what I do, who I am. He’s never talked to me in his life. It’s unfortunate that those sentiments. … It’s surprising that he would even say that to be honest. But yeah, I knew this was possible. I talked about it on [the Pat McAfee Show a] weeks ago. But crazy.”

To his credit, MVP voter Hub Arkush did later pen an apology to Aaron Rodgers. His open letter to the Green Bay quarterback called his comments to Sports Illustrated a “terrible mistake”.

Aaron Rodgers’ Stats Going Into NFL MVP Vote

Love him or hate him, the Green Bay QB’s stats this season make a strong argument for a repeat as league MVP.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that Rodgers threw for 3,977 yards, 35 touchdowns and four interceptions. His 111.1 passer rating comfortably leads the NFL.

He’s also the quarterback for the NFL’s only 13-win team, and has ended his season with 18 touchdowns and no interceptions in that stretch.
