5 WWE Superstars Who Could Be The Next Releases

With the shock releases this week, we look at the next 5 superstars who could be facing the chopping block in the WWE. Are these the most likely candidates who should jump ship to AEW instead?

1. Kacy Catanzaro

This is one of my biggest fears, as this woman is hugely talented. Instead, she has found herself a little stuck in NXT.

Despite character reinventions and some TV time, Catanzaro seems to be in the same position as Candice LeRae. Great potential, just not getting anywhere substantial.

The treatment of Catanzaro since her arrival is absolutely infuriating. After all, this is a woman with incredible physical capabilities. 

You might remember Catanzaro from Ninja Warrior, the immensely difficult obstacle course. Needless to say, Catanzaro can do some impressive things in the wrestling ring.

Despite her loyalty, Catanzaro is in danger of becoming one of the 5 next releases of WWE superstars. Unfortunately, WWE does not always recognise talent, not even if it stares them in the face.

2. Kona Reeves

Another wrestler who may be in danger is Kona Reeves. Even though he arrived on the NXT brand with lots of bells and whistles, he is pretty forgotten at this point.

Reeves started working for NXT back in 2015. Unfortunately, he never really had any big opportunities or a chance to establish himself as a heel.

His most notable achievement was his return in 2018. While he established himself as “The Finest” and as a heel, not much else happened apart from that.

Reeves’ achievements in the indies are also quite limited. So, he is certainly on the list of wrestlers who could be one of the 5 next releases among WWE superstars.

3. Ariya Daivari

The cruiserweight division is still not doing well at all. While the company originally promoted the brand heavily, now there seems to be nothing but silence.

If the cruiserweight division goes under, WWE will need someone to blame. And if the brand’s track record is anything to go by, Daivari could be on the chopping block.

Some of the most notable stars on the brand have been mistreated and released. Naturally, the most obvious name from the past is none other than Neville.

Daivari will be one of the superstars that stays with WWE tirelessly out of misplaced loyalty. But when his usefulness for WWE runs out, he will be released without even a thank you.

The benefit is that Daivari is still young and could make a name for himself on any other promotion. Needless to say, this is something the wrestler should consider carefully. 

4. Cedric Alexander

Cedric has been on my list many times, but so far managed to avoid the chopping block. However, the reason he avoided it may be in the largest part due to Paul Heyman.

Despite being one of the most talented wrestlers in the bunch, Alexander is always somewhat in the background. Even during his time in the Hurt Business.

Lashley eventually came out as the big winner from the Hurt Business. This once again shows Vince McMahon’s preference for the bigger wrestlers on his roster.

Alexander is quite young and should cut his losses where the WWE is concerned. Maybe he should follow his wife Big Swole to AEW instead?

I do worry for Alexander, especially when it comes down to Vince’s lack of interest in the wrestler. He could be so much more, I just hope he sees it before it is too late.

5. Dominik Mysterio

Now, this may be one of the least obvious choices in the bunch. However, stay with me for my theory.

There is no denying that Dominik has inherited much of his father’s talent. But WWE does what it does best, capitalize on someone’s name and then throw them away when the novelty wears off.

Unfortunately, this seems to be exactly what is happening with Dominic Mysterio right now. Since his original feud with Seth Rollins, he does not seem to be going anywhere.

I would love to be proven wrong when it comes to Dominik Mysterio. I believe he has a huge career ahead of him, but WWE needs to invest in him.

Fingers crossed I am wrong on this one and that WWE will not treat him the same way they treated his father so many times…
