Miley Cyrus Takes A Swipe At Trump, Sings “Golden G-String” In NPR Music’s Tiny Desk Concert

Donald Trump may be out of office, but that does not mean that liberal singer Miley Cyrus is done attacking him.

Cyrus Goes After Trump In New Song

In NPR Music’s Tiny Desk Concert on Thursday, Cyrus took shots at Trump as she performed her savage song “Golden G-String.”

In the song, Cyrus brands Trump a “mad man” and says his heart is “an iron vault.”

“He says ‘If you can’t make ends meet, honey, it must be your fault,” sang Cyrus, 28.

Cyrus Explains Why She Wrote This Song

Cyrus told The Zane Lowe Show on Apple Music in November that she wrote the song in “2017 or 2018” as a response to Trump’s presidency.

“This song, which is also about kind of the cross I’ve had to bear, in a way, of saying, ‘I feel like everything that I’ve done has just been up for all the opinions and I guess people being offended and all this s**t,'” Cyrus explained. “But it’s like our president grabs women by the …. and you’re mad at me. I’m a pop star. I’m supposed to do these things.”

“I’m supposed to do things that sometimes make you uncomfortable or you take offense,” she added. “That’s kind of my job, that’s entertainment… I don’t want that in a leader. You don’t want an entertainer.”

She’ll also be performing at the firs-ever pre-game “Tik-Tok Tailgate” at Super Bowl LV. Will she belt out “Golden G-String” there as well?

Cyrus Threatened To Leave The Country If Trump Won In 2016

Cyrus has long been incredibly anti-Trump. At one point, she even threatened to leave the country if he won the 2016 presidential election.

“We all said a bunch of s–t we didn’t mean,” Cyrus Vanity Fair in 2019, adding that she felt it was important to use her celebrity status to be remain an activist rather than “running away.”

“Because we really thought: Maybe people will listen. Maybe people actually realize how detrimental this will be to our f–king country if this happens. Obviously they didn’t. But for me to move away — what the f–k is that going to change?” Cyrus said.

“As someone who is so proud of being an activist, am I going to feel proud of myself just running away from, and leaving everyone else here to live under, a completely racist, sexist, hateful a–hole? You can’t leave everyone else to fend for themselves,” she added.

Cyrus Thinks Politics And Pop Culture Are The Same

Cyrus went on to say that she believes politics and celebrity culture are the same.

“I love when pop culture and politics meet,” Cyrus said. “I think they’re not always married completely happily. They challenge each other. But I think especially in this time, pop culture and politics are the same f–king thing. Especially with the president that we have right now. We’ve made a celebrity our f–king president. People listen to what celebrities have to say more than activists half the time.”

In the end, Cyrus is just another self-absorbed entertainer who thinks she has the right to lecture the rest of us about politics.

James Conrad

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
