Ella Emhoff, the 21 year-old stepdaughter of Vice President Kamala Harris, has reportedly signed a deal with IMG Models, one of the most prestigious modeling agencies in the world.
“It’s not really about shape, size or gender any more,” Ivan Bart, the president of IMG Models, told the New York Times. “Ella communicates this moment in time. There’s a cheekiness and a joy she exudes.”
Emhoff is currently a senior at Parsons School of Design in New York, and she is reportedly studying fine arts with a focus on textiles. She told The Times that she never expected to become a model.
“I was pretty surprised when everything with IMG was happening because when I was younger, I never saw that as being part of my timeline,” Emhoff said. “As someone who, like a lot of young girls out there, had self-confidence issues, it is intimidating and scary to go into this world that is hyper-focused on you and the body.”
She went on to say that she changed her mind about modeling after seeing how diverse the industry had become, adding that she is eager to be “part of that change,” as an artist with “really weird tattoos and kind of a funky haircut.”

Bart explained that Harris’ stepdaughter Ella Emhoff first caught his eye during a fundraiser for her stepmother last year.
“I noticed her as soon as she walked in the door,” he said.
Bart called Emhoff over Zoom to discuss modeling opportunities with her, and showed him her textiles and knitwear pieces.
The New York Times boasted that Emhoff often “her armpit hair and cartoonish tattoos, which include eggs and bacon in the shape of a smiley face and a cow.”
Emhoff already has over 319,000 Instagram followers, and she’s made it clear that she wants even more.
“I’ve obviously got a bigger platform now, and I’m excited to share a lot of things I really care about, and do some good,” she said, adding that though she is “excited to do things like wear fun clothes” and be part of the fashion world “to bring a bit of Bushwick into the high fashion realm,” she also wants to help out with some knitwear fundraising.
“There are a lot of people out there that need a lot of help,” Emhoff said. “If I can do anything to help with that, I want to, and I think this opportunity will be really beneficial toward that.”
This is, of course, absolutely outrageous.
It goes without saying that if Emhoff’s parents were Republicans, she would not be being signed by a renowned modeling agency.
It should be noted that Melania Trump, who had years of modeling experience, was not featured on a single magazine cover during her time as First Lady.
It’s an absolute joke that this 21-year-old liberal with her hairy armpits may soon be gracing a magazine cover herself.
