Jim Ross has done just about all there is to do in pro wrestling, so what will Jim Ross do next, whenever his time with AEW wraps up? And what AEW star could face Sting in 2021?

What Will Jim Ross Do Next

It might seem a bit premature, but what will Jim Ross do next?

To be clear, the legendary announcer is still with AEW, and that does not show any signs of coming to an end.

However, sometimes talent takes time to reflect. Or, to openly state some longer term plans, because we all know no one stays with one company for forever.

That is something good ol’ JR knows all too well. He has most notably spent time with the now defunct WCW, as well as a couple stints with WWE.

When AEW was born, Jim Ross was quickly on board to give the new company it’s voice. But he does have plans for life after AEW, whenever that phase starts.

So what kind of plans?

Well, Ross spoke on his own Grilling JR podcast recently, and if we take him at his word…he will not call action for another company following his time with AEW.

While Ross is not retiring yet, the comment indicates that his commentating role with AEW will be his last such role in the sport.

That news isn’t totally surprising, all things considered. Ross is in the twilight of a very illustrious career, and he has very little left to accomplish.

Still, even taking into account any bad blood between JR and WWE…you have to wonder.

If Ross left AEW, and Vince called him up, even for just one last called match…would JR still say no?

For now, we assume he would, but it’s all moot. Jim Ross is happily with AEW for the foreseeable future.

What AEW Star Could Face Sting In 2021

By now, everyone in the wrestling world knows that the legendary Sting has returned once again, now to AEW. So, what AEW star could face Sting in 2021?

Well, we are getting teased about a match pitting one former WWE Superstar against the WWE Hall of Famer.

Specifically, former AEW Champion Chris Jericho may have eyes on a match with Sting.

Jericho himself posted this very cryptic tweet, and fans are eating it up.

This is a match that makes a ton of sense.

For one thing, the two stars have never wrestled one another.

For another, as with his time in WWE, Sting is not likely in for a full schedule. In that mind, he’s likely also not one to work with the younger and greener talent, given his health history.

If AEW wants a special attraction match that could draw in fans who may have never tuned in before? The first ever match between Chris Jericho and Sting would be one way to do it.

Such a match would be a very impressive special attraction type of draw. Jericho is a well-respected veteran, and someone Sting would likely feel very comfortable working against.

While the two might not produce a match as though they were in their primes, given their level of experience, there’s a good chance that it would be can’t-miss wrestling action.
