jobs of WWE superstars

WWE superstars needed to make a living before they became famous. In fact, many WWE superstars had some surprising jobs before hitting the big time.

But which were some of the most unique jobs? Let’s discover the most surprising jobs once held by a WWE superstar!

The Undertaker: Debt Collector

The Undertaker had one of the most unique jobs as he was a debt collector

Mark Calaway strikes an imposing figure. So, his job before becoming a WWE superstar is not that surprising when you keep in this mind.

That’s right,  The Undertaker used to be a debt collector. And much like his wrestling opponents, he undoubtedly struck fear in people’s hearts.

Somehow, I am suck with a rather disturbing image on my head. Imagine owing someone money and suddenly you hear the Undertaker’s entrance music gong?

The Undertaker had more jobs that matched his unique build. In fact, he also worked as a bouncer in various nightclubs and bars.

So, Mark always knew how to use his imposing look in his jobs. Fortunately for us, that also included the role of The Undertaker.

John Cena: Limousine Driver

John Cena used to be a limousine driver

Everyone knows that John Cena loves his cars. After all, he talked about his personal collection on YouTube more than once.

And it may have been his love for cars that led to one of the most unique jobs in our overview today. That’s right, John Cena used to be a limousine driver.

Before he became “The Face That Runs The Place”, John Cena made a living by working in a gym. However, to gain some additional income, he also drove limousines around for the rich.

During an interview with Seth Meyers in 2019, John Cena admitted he was not that great at his limousine driver job. He even mentioned how he was three hours late for his first pick-up.

Good thing John Cena did not stick with limousine driving. Instead, he became one of the most famous wrestlers the world had ever seen.

Roman Reigns: Mover And Furniture Builder

Roman Reigns had multiple surprising jobs at the same time.

With looks as those of Roman Reigns, you would expect a modelling career. However, the now wrestling legend had much more unique jobs before he became a WWE Champion.

Roman Reigns held several surprising jobs before he went to the WWE. These jobs included moving and installing furniture.

During an interview, the Emperor of the Roman Empire stated he worked for his sister’s business. The job entailed moving and installing office furniture for several companies.

The star would later say the following about his experience:

“I knew I wasn’t supposed to be putting on the furniture shirt. I was supposed to be doing something else. And I didn’t know what it was at that point, but I knew WWE could possibly be that team I was looking for.”

Many people can certainly relate to that statement today.

The Bella Twins: Hooters Waitresses

The Bella Twins worked at Hooters

While there are many surprising jobs in this overview, this one might be more expected. When you think about the look of The Bella Twins, it is clear how they got started in Hooters.

Before they arrived in WWE in 2008, they worked as waitresses in their local Hooters restaurant. During a YouTube video, Nikki revealed how they were taught to use their looks.

“We were taught that whenever you were taking the customer’s order, you would have to lean in and you squeeze your cleavage and then you’d have to be like: “Well, would you want fries with that?”

Maybe these skills benefited them going forward in the WWE as well? After all, The Bella Twins will forever be associated with their beautiful looks.

Sheamus: IT Specialist

Sheamus used to be an IT specialist

The notion of the old-fashioned IT specialist is etched in most our brains. We usually see a scrawny man wearing glasses (I apologize to my other half, who is in IT).

Either way, the picture we have of the IT specialist is pretty set. But would you ever picture a man like Sheamus fixing your computer or network?

Sheamus may have one of the most surprising jobs in our overview. In fact, he stayed in an IT role for many years.

While Sheamus was undoubtedly skilled in IT, we are still happy he made that switch to WWE wrestling. After all, he would become the first Irish WWE Champion.

Daniel Bryan: McDonald’s Cashier

Daniel Bryan was a McDonald's Cashier

Daniel Bryan is a proud vegan, who strongly opposes meat consumption. However, before he was famous, Bryan worked as a cashier for McDonald’s.

Considering Bryan’s vegan status, his role at McDonald’s is undoubtedly one of the most surprising jobs. Nevertheless, it was an important job.

Thanks to his efforts at McDonald’s, Daniel managed to fund his wrestling career. Without that important job, he would have never reached the wrestling heights he has today.

The Great Khali: Policeman

The Great Khali

Imagine being a criminal in a town where there is a policeman in the form of The Great Khali. It is good enough to deter anyone from crime.

Come to think of it, he can police around my neighbourhood at any given time!

The Great Khali was an assistant sub-inspector for the Punjab Police. At a height of 7 ft 3, he was probably the scariest one in the bunch!

Of course, we all know and love The Great Khali because of his wrestling career. Nevertheless, part of me would have loved to see the imposing figure as a policeman back in the day!

Becky Lynch: Flight Attendant

Becky Lynch was a flight attendant

Before becoming a glamorous WWE superstar, Becky Lynch was a flight attendant. She worked  for Aer Lingus for two and a half years.

Becky spoke about her previous career in many interviews. She also mentioned how she often struggled financially when she worked her way up in the wrestling world.

Lynch’s success story is quite similar to that of other wrestlers. It was sheer determination and passion for wrestling that saw her receive a contract with the WWE.

You do have to wonder… Did some rude passengers help her develop the Disarm Her?

Either way, we are happy Becky made it to the WWE. After all, she has been one of the most prominent women to contribute to the Women’s Revolution.
