WWE Hit Hard By Coronavirus, Liv Morgan Backstage News

WWE Hit Hard By Coronavirus

According to a report, the WWE ran additional COVID-19 testing this week after a developmental wrestler tested positive.

The coronavirus has caused many issues for the promotion, but even more could be on the way.

Pro Wrestling Sheet is reporting that multiple people within WWE have now tested positive for COVID-19, and that number includes the competing talent.

At least three pro wrestlers who had been at the Orlando-based WWE Performance Center tested positive, but when those results were found is unknown at this time.

“Our sources say more testing will now be done by WWE’s medical team before this week’s TV production to make sure the virus has not spread amongst talent/behind the scenes workers,” the report states.

Number Of Infected WWE Employees Could Be Higher

And now, PWInsider indicates the number of those affected could be several dozen.

Florida has seen a rise in positive COVID-19 results. They were the first state to open up for live WWE events.

That includes a series of infections at the Orlando International Airport, which WWE wrestlers use to travel for the tapings.

The next major WWE event is scheduled for July 19 from the WWE Performance Center in Orlando as Extreme Rules. WWE has filmed matches ahead of time, but most of the show has aired live on the WWE Network.

Extreme Rules was originally scheduled to take place in San Jose, California from the SAP Center. Like WWE pay per views this year, they were forced to use the Performance Center.

Two matches are currently booked as Drew McIntyre defends his WWE title against Dolph Ziggler and Asuka puts her Raw women’s belt on the line against Sasha Banks.

We will have to see if COVID-19 causes WWE to change some matches and storylines. If dozen of wrestlers are sick with the virus, WWE is likely looking at major rewrites for Extreme Rules.

With tapings currently scheduled for this weekend, WWE might have to act fast.

Liv Morgan Backstage News

Liv Morgan is using social media to voice her displeasures with the WWE.

Morgan let it be known that she was not happy following a quick loss to Natalya. The bout was on a recent edition of Raw.

However, according to reports, Morgan’s frustration dates back even further to her time on SmackDown.

Gary Cassidy of Sportskeeda reports Morgan went directly to Vince McMahon to ask for a switch from SmackDown to Raw. After it was approved, she remained unused until her role in the Rusev, Lana, Bobby Lashley angle.

Paul Heyman, the former RAW Executive Director, was said to be very high on Morgan. Therefore, Heyman had pitched several angles to McMahon involving her.

However, they were all denied until the wedding angle was presented.

Some initial talks revolving Morgan and her forming a tag team with Rusev were believed to be in play, along with a babyface run for her on Raw following the storyline.

Morgan is far from the first pro wrestler to ask to switch brands due to a lack of television time. Andrade, Zelina, Aleister Black, Murphy, Apollo Crews and a handful of others also made the plea and were rewarded.

For now, it appears most major plans involving Morgan are off. She is set to begin a storyline with former tag partner Ruby Riott.
