Tom Selleck Reveals Devastating Impact ‘Blue Bloods’ Cancellation May Have On His Life

The Hollywood star Tom Selleck is speaking out this week to claim that he is in danger of losing his California ranch if CBS follows through with cancelling his beloved show “Blue Bloods,” which has been on since 2010.

Selleck Claims He May Lose His Ranch

Selleck, 79, is currently in New York City filming the final eight episodes of Blue Bloods, which are set to air in the fall. Once he finishes this, he’ll return to his ranch in Ventura County, California, where he has lived ever since he quit his hit show Magnum P.I. back in 1988.

Selleck is desperately trying to convince CBS to reconsider cancelling Blue Bloods, alleging that he’s in danger of losing his ranch if the show goes off the air.

“You know, hopefully I keep working enough to hold onto the place,” Selleck told CBS Sunday Morning.

The reporter interviewing Selleck was visibly stunned by this comment, incredulously asking, “Seriously, that’s an issue? If you stopped working?”

“That’s always an issue,” Selleck alleged. “If I stopped working, yeah. Am I set for life? Yeah, but maybe not on a 63-acre ranch!”

Daily Mail, however, was skeptical about this, pointing out that Selleck has an alleged net worth of $45 million. He’s also the highest paid star on Blue Bloods, making $200,000 per episode. Check out Selleck’s full interview in the video below.

Selleck Tries To Save Blue Bloods

Nevertheless, Selleck is hoping that “CBS will come to their senses” and decide to keep Blue Bloods on the air.

“We’re the third-highest scripted show in all of broadcast,” he said. “We’re winning the night.”

Selleck went on to say that everyone involved in making Blue Bloods want to see the show continue.

“All the cast wants to come back,” he explained. “And I can tell you this — we aren’t sliding off down a cliff. We’re doing good shows and still holding our place. So, I don’t know. You tell me!”

Fans are certainly onboard with Selleck’s efforts, as they have launched a #SaveBlueBloods campaign, with a petition to stop the show from being cancelled garnering nearly 18,000 signatures at the time of this writing.

Unfortunately for Selleck and the fans, however, it appears that their pleas are falling on deaf ears. CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach confirmed earlier this week that network executives have no intention of letting Blue Bloods continue.

“All shows have to come to an end,” Reisenbach told Deadline.

“It’s important to us to refresh the schedule,” she added. “We are going to end the show come December.”

Selleck’s Simple Ranch Life

Selleck has long been open about how much he loves life on his ranch in California, where he spends his time riding around the property on an ATV tending to the flowers and trees.

“I’ve planted them for years and they bloom in cycles,” Selleck told People Magazine last month of the wildflowers he loves to plant.

Selleck went on to talk about the recent devastating drought that destroyed many of his ranch’s avocado trees.

“That just breaks your heart,” Selleck said. “But with the rain we’ve had, the sick ones are getting better, and they’re all sprouting a lot of healthy growth.”

Blue Bloods, which also co-stars Donnie Wahlberg and Bridget Moynahan, is one of the only shows on television that celebrates both family and law enforcement, so it is needed now more than ever. Whether Selleck is truly in danger of losing his ranch or not, here’s hoping that CBS renews this beloved show!

James Conrad

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
