KEYE reported that the A-list couple personally dropped off a portion of the massive donation of masks to the Austin Fire Department on Friday.

Camila explained in part on Instagram:

Our mission is to protect those who protect us, by providing healthcare workers, firefighters, police officers, and others with approximately 80,000 masks needed to battle the #COVID19 virus. Matthew and I, our friends Bill and Tracey Marshall have teamed up with the organization #BStrong. We are passionate about helping first responders from our hometown Austin – Texas, Louisiana and nationwide as we combat this national pandemic. #thisisacrisis

The Brazilian-American model added that she hoped the generous move would “inspire you to pick a lane to help others whatever that lane is even if your lane is helping your neighbor, calling people, emotional support, donations, volunteer… pick a lane and do it well! Stay strong this too shall pass…”

This is yet another move by McConaughey that tells us he’s a stand up guy. Besides standing up for gun rightstraditional marriage, and even of George W. Bush, the Texas native makes a point to give back in his community.

Most recently, the Academy Award winner decided to brighten the spirits of quarantined seniors with rousing round of virtual bingo:

While Texas is not the hardest hit state, they reported 923 more cases of the new coronavirus yesterday. Which is an increase of about 7% over Saturday, and brings Texas’ total number of known cases to 13,484. Recent models show coronavirus could peak in Texas in late April or early May.

Austin Fire Department Thanks Matthew And Camila McConaughey

The next day, the Austin Fire Department took to Twitter to thank McConaughey and Camila for their generosity.

“The C-shift at Station 32 got a surprise yesterday, when @McConaughey and @iamcamilaalves stopped by to let us know we’re getting several 1,000 N-95 masks soon, part of their donation of 80K to healthcare workers, FFs, and police officers in #ATX and #NOLA! ? Camila McConaughey On Why It’s Important To Deliver Supplies Personally To First Responders

The day before, Camila opened up to People Magazine about the importance of delivering the supplies in person.

“We’re doing in-person delivery because I need to know the quality control is there,” she said.

“We are delivering stuff to the Police Department in Austin, and then the Fire Department and Sheriff’s Department as well. We are making sure the Austin area is covered in that sense and then New Orleans will be getting them in just a few days.”

“This is not about raising the hand and saying, ‘Hey, I’ve put this much money in it.’ This is about raising the hand and making people aware that this exists,” Camila added.

“It took me over two weeks to find this cause, so it’s about raising the hand and saying, ‘This exists and guess what? Still time to help.’ And if you can’t help with this, find your own avenue where you can help and feel useful during this time.”

Other Hollywood stars are spending their quarantine tweeting out nonsense from their mansions. Many of them trying to find ways to blame this pandemic on President Donald Trump.

So it’s a welcome change when we see a celebrity couple actually helping the ones on the frontlines of the battle against COVID-19. And, even better, doing so in-person!

Thank goodness for Hollywood personalities like Matthew McConaughey and Camila. Keep fighting the good fight!
