Paul Heyman Doing Extra WWE Work, Eric Bischoff Mocks Tony Khan

Paul Heyman is doing extra work by helping with a particular WrestleMania 36 program. Also, Eric Bischoff mocked Tony Khan’s recent comments.

Paul Heyman Doing Extra WWE Work

We are not sure what the main event of WrestleMania 36 will be, but Universal Champion Bill Goldberg vs. Roman Reigns is in the running. The match was not even supposed to take place, but plans changed over the past 10 days. At Super ShowDown, Goldberg defeated “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt to claim the gold. The match was heavily criticized by fans as Wyatt’s yearlong push ended in three minutes to a part-timer.

Nobody can change what happened and it is time to move forward with WrestleMania 36. WrestleVotes noted that Paul Heyman will assist in the build for Goldberg vs. Reigns.

Besides helping with the Universal Championship match, Heyman will have his hands full for the next five weeks. He is still the Executive Director of RAW and also the advocate for Brock Lesnar. Based on everything that Heyman does for WWE, it seems that his input is being better received.

With fans not happy about Goldberg – Reigns, Heyman might be one of the few people to help. Vince McMahon will always have final say, but he is busy. The XFL relaunch is only weeks in and then there is WrestleMania to also worry about.

Eric Bischoff Mocks Tony Khan

At one point, WCW was close to putting WWE out of business. Eric Bischoff was running things at WCW and for 83 consecutive weeks, Nitro defeated RAW. Then, WWE ushered in the Attitude Era and WCW struggled to keep up. Eventually, WWE purchased WCW in early 2001 for less than five million dollars.

During an interview with Financial Times, All Elite Wrestling (AEW) President Tony Khan said he learned a lot from watching WCW fail. Bischoff did not seem thrilled with Khan’s comments and questioned what AEW has accomplished.

Bischoff’s Response To Khan

“He’s been in the professional wrestling business for, what time is it?,” said Bischoff on his After 83 Weeks podcast. “It’s about a cup of coffee, I think. I think [his] coffee could still be warm at this point. So far he’s spent from what I’ve heard, I don’t know if it’s accurate or not, I want to make sure I say that, somewhere between thirty and fifty million dollars to prove that he could be competitive with WWE’s developmental territory.”

“Call me in a couple years and let me know how you’ve changed the industry,” Bischoff continued. “Call me in a couple years when your show is one of the top, if not the top original piece of programming on the TNT network. So, call me in a couple years when you’re number two, number three, number four in all of cable programming for the night in primetime, and then let’s talk about it. But until then, hmm, I’ll just another cup of coffee and see what happens.”

Bischoff returned to WWE this year as the Executive Director of SmackDown. But, he made little of an impression and was let go within a few months. As for AEW, they have been doing well in the ratings, beating NXT almost every week. Plus, their pay per views continue to leave a positive impression. They just held Revolution, which was an entertaining show with all the matches being a hit with fans.
