Roman Reigns WrestleMania 37 Dream Match + John Cena Returning To SmackDown

Roman Reigns Has A WrestleMania 37 Dream Match

The other day, WWE announced where next year’s WrestleMania 37 will be taking place. Next year’s Showcase Of The Immortals will come at us live from Los Angeles. Specifically, it will be held in the brand new SoFi Stadium.

WWE recently held a press event to hype the announcement. Roman Reigns was at the event, and could not help but mention the potential dream match: Reigns versus his cousin, the kind of retired Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

But, is that a match fans might want to see?

Honestly, that match has been rumored for a while. Not necessarily the setting, but at least the men involved.

With that in mind, once WWE announced it was taking WrestleMania to Hollywood, many expected a Rock level of involvement. Whether it is a match or not will remain to be seen…but a Rock-Reigns main event could certainly be the kind of major draw Vince McMahon drools over.

John Cena Is Returning To SmackDown

WWE fans have not seen John Cena around a WWE ring since the Doctor of Thuganomics showed up at the New York/New Jersey WrestleMania last year. There have been rumblings that Cena might be angling for a program at this year’s WrestleMania, in his adopted home town of Tampa, Florida.

While we aren’t getting WrestleMania news, the decorated Superstar has been announced to be on SmackDown later in February.

Some key points, following the announcement via WWE Backstage last night:

First, at least per the IMDB listing for The Invisible Man, John Cena has no roll in the film. It’s possible he could be making a timely dig at himself being invisible for much of the last year, relative to WWE.

Second, he mentions a project. This could be nothing, or it could be a bit of a tease as to what’ to come from his appearance. Perhaps Cena will be an announced performer at this year’s WrestleMania 36. One rumored match for him-against Randy Orton-seems to be no longer viable. It is expected that The Viper will be tangling with the recently un-retired Edge.

Fans had no issue tossing out some of their own theories for what could transpire:

John Deegan

Introduced to professional wrestling in the 1980's thanks to Superstars and Saturday Night's Main Event, John's passion for the medium was reborn thanks to ECW in the 90's. A former in-ring "talent" with a career 0-2 record, he finds it more rewarding, and far less painful, to write about wrestling now.
