Jerry Seinfeld Thinks the Oscars Blew It With Kevin Hart Controversy

When comedian Kevin Hart had to step down from hosting the Oscars when some old homophobic tweets and jokes were brought to light, many debated over whether or not he should have been forced to give that role up. But comedian Jerry Seinfeld thinks it’s the Oscars who are losing out.

“In a new interview with NBC News’ Willie Geist set to air this Sunday, Jerry Seinfeld weighed in on his fellow comedian Kevin Hart’s decision to step down as Oscar host after his old homophobic tweets and jokes resurfaced last week,” reports The Daily Beast.

Seinfeld said:

“Kevin is in a position, because he’s a brilliant comedian, to kind of decide what he wants to do He doesn’t have to step down. But he can. And when you look at the situation—well, who got screwed in that deal? I think Kevin is going to be fine. But find another Kevin Hart, that’s not so easy. He’s a brilliant guy with a movie career.”

Seinfeld has been speaking out against political correctness for sometime. The famous comedian and television star riled up many a few years back when he said he tries to avoid performing at universities because out-of-control political correctness makes it hard for comedians to even do their job.

“I don’t play colleges, but I hear a lot of people tell me, ‘Don’t go near colleges. They’re so PC.’ They just want to use these words: ‘That’s racist;’ ‘That’s sexist;’ ‘That’s prejudice.”

“They don’t know what the hell they’re talking about,” Seinfeld said.

Hart was also attacked by the PC-police before the Oscars controversy over his son’s “cowboys and Indians” birthday party. Critics said it was “cultural appropriation.”

“The reason why I’m even bringing this dumb sh*t up is because it shows just how stupid our world is becoming with opinions,” Hart said, responding to the controversy. “People are at a point of an all-time high, to throw racial judgment into the development of a 1-year-old’s birthday party where the theme is Cowboys and Indians, and it’s based around the outfits that are given to these young kids,” Hart said.

Hart has a point. So does Jerry Seinfeld. PC has gone too far.

It’s the Oscar’s loss – not Kevin Hart’s.
