Colbert Asks Kathy Griffin if She Would Do It All Over Again

When comedian Kathy Griffin posted a photo in 2017 of her holding a bloody and decapitated faux head of Donald Trump, she got so much backlash, she was forced to apologize. She later said, “I’m no longer sorry. The whole outrage was BS.”

This week, “The Late Show” host Stephen Colbert had the opportunity to ask Griffin if after everything she’s been through, would she do it again?

Griffin didn’t answer the question definitively, but did say what she did was “covered by the First Amendment, even if you didn’t like the picture.”

Was it all worth it?

Griffin’s longtime co-host Anderson Cooper called her actions “disgusting” and their friendship ended.

Griffin told Colbert about how the Secret Service and the Assistant U.S. Attorney’s Office conducted a two-month federal investigation of her for “conspiracy to assassinate the president of the United States.”

She was put on a no-fly list for two months during the investigation.

Griffin was even flagged by Interpol and was detained at every airport she visited during her worldwide tour, called the “Laugh Your Head Off” tour, to reiterate that she really wasn’t sorry.

She told Colbert she had lost “75 percent” of her friends “that never came back.”

So – was that all really worth it, Ms. Griffin?

Of course, Colbert lavished her with praise, and the whole segment made her more out to be the victim. Regarding her ongoing publicity tour that explains her experience, Griffin told Colbert, “I don’t want anything like this to happen to any of you.”

The whole interview was chummy and nice, making Griffin seem like the hero and painted anyone who criticized her as the bad guy.

If anyone on the right had done the same with a faux head of Barack Obama, this kind of friendly interview would have never happened.
