Jon Gosselin is opening up about the custody battle between him and ex-wife Kate over two of their children. Gosselin also claims their son Collin was mentally abused by Kate.
Gag Order Lifted
Until recently, Gosselin was barred from talking about the details of court battles between the former “Jon & Kate Plus 8″ stars due to a decade-long gag order.
But now the unburdened father of twins and sextuplets is letting the world know his side of the story.
In a recent interview, Gosselin said his son Collin, 15, was mistreated by Kate. Collin, who lives with ADHD, was sent to live at Fairmont Behavioral Health Institute for three years.
Jon alleges it was because “Kate … couldn’t deal with him.”
“He was alone for three and a half years with no parents, all alone,” he continued. “It was inhumane.”
“Other than ADHD, which is extremely common, Collin has never been diagnosed with any known medical condition,” Jon clarified. “There’s nothing wrong with him.”
Dealing with eight kids is no easy task. However, as a former nurse, Kate certainly has the capacity to learn how to deal with people who need extra care.
Collin’s Cry For Help
Over the years, Jon, 42, has been open about his estrangement from his eight children following his and Kate’s acrimonious divorce. Jon said previously that it’s been years since he’s seen all eight of his children at once.
So, it’s not terribly surprising that Jon didn’t know exactly what Collin was going through until he received a letter from the teen.
“Dear Dad, I’m not trying to trick you, but I still love you,” Collin wrote to his dad in June 2017. “I told Mom [Kate Gosselin] I want to live with you, she said no. But right? She can’t choose for me. I’m old enough now, I’m YOUR son, not hers. She was abusive to me after I left your house. I’m sorry. Take this to court because … you’re my dad, my savior.”
Jon took the cry for help seriously and fought for sole custody of Collin, as well as his sister Hannah.

Jon Gosselin Versus Kate Gosselin
Ultimately, Jon won custody of the two and they’ve reportedly thrived in the new environment.
Jon also says that despite doing better, Collin now suffers with post-traumatic stress disorder. Claiming, “I know my children have suffered abuse and I know one day they’re going to tell their own story. And sadly enough, I know what PTSD is. It’s really upsetting.”
And now that the gag order is over, he says he wants the world to know what he alleges Kate’s put their children through.
“Kate is not doing the shows for her family, Kate is doing it for herself,” Jon said. “She’s narcissistic and selfish. That’s it. Period. All of this is for her — ‘Kate Plus Eight,’ ‘Kate Plus Date,’ it’s her name first. She always speaks for the children. It’s all lies. They all have voices.”

Twins Cara and Mady are now adults and in three years the sextuplets will be able to speak for themselves, as well.
However, Jon says he knows reconnecting won’t be easy because he believes his ex has “poisoned my children’s minds against me.”
It’s a story that all too many broken families know well. Hopefully, someday, all eight Gosselin children will eventually have both of their parents in their lives.
