Maria Kanellis was released from WWE about 90 days ago and she is still upset over the firing. Also, Ember Moon’s WWE career might be over due to injury.
Maria Kanellis Upset Over Firing
Back in April, WWE was feeling the effects of COVID-19. It was so bad, that WWE let 40% of their staff go.
The list included everyone from backstage, talent and those names you have never heard of before in Stanford. Two superstars released were Maria Kanellis and Mike Kanellis.
The departure of the couple was not a major surprise. They had rarely been used on TV and mostly saw in-ring time during live events.
At the time of the releases, Maria had given birth to her second child two months prior. When a fan asked Maria about the timing of the departure, she did not seem happy with WWE’s decision.
Below are screenshots of the now deleted tweets.
Since those tweets were sent out and deleted, Maria had uploaded a new one. As seen below, she talks about removing negativity and focusing on her family.
Just deleted a lot of negativity from yesterday. I don’t think it’s helpful and I would rather focus on the positive things in my life. My two beautiful babies and my amazing husband. I just want to be able to provide for them and that is all that matters. pic.twitter.com/Fk3gyAcQaj

Kanellis Family’s Tough WWE Run
Mike and Maria never really got a chance in WWE. Upon their debut, Maria quickly became pregnant and Mike was working on getting sober.
When there contracts were getting ready to exspire, it seemed like both were ready to move on. But, WWE eventually got them to re-sign.
Once Maria returned to TV, it seemed like a push was coming. Then, Maria announced she was pregnant again.
WWE worked an angle where Maria won the 24/7 Championship, while telling her Mike was not the father of their unborn baby. Eventually, the angle was dropped and both again disappeared from TV.
Recently, we learned the idea was that Mike would always be the father. Although, the details of the how the angle would play out are not known.
Both will be able to compete anywhere shortly as their 90 non-compete clause with WWE is about to expire. They have a past with Impact Wrestling and could appear during Slammiversary.
WWE Superstar Thinks Career Is Over
Ember Moon has been off of WWE TV for about a year. During that time, she underwent surgery after injuring her Achilles.
In a follow-up, Moon spoke to ComicBook and stated her Achilles ruptured in two places. Also, the doctor believed she worked about two months with the injury.
Nowadays, Moon is not certain that a return inside the ring is possible.
“It’s just a very, very long process and I would love, love, love to have a date back on the board but it’s up in the air,” said Moon. “I’m sitting here and I’m fighting a second surgery. I’m fighting against the second surgery.”
“That’s how bad it is. When I went on [WWE] Backstage and I said, ‘I don’t know if I’m ever going to wrestle again,’ I meant what I said and I, I stand by that.”
Before getting hurt, Moon was on a major losing steak. After she joined the main roster, she quickly became an afterthought.
In NXT, Moon was given a better position. She won the NXT Women’s Championship and nearly handed Asuka her first defeat.
For now, we will wait and see what is next for Moon.
