Earlier this week, we reported that the former First Lady Michelle Obama had claimed that America “ain’t ready” for a female president. Now, this is blowing up in her face, as Stephen A. Smith is speaking out to blast Michelle for making this allegation. This comes amidst rampant rumors that Michelle is preparing to divorce her husband of 33 years, the former President Barack Obama.

Michelle Sounds Off

It all started last week, when Michelle outrageously claimed that America “ain’t ready” for a female president.

“As we saw in this past election, sadly, we ain’t ready,” Michelle told the Black-ish actress Tracee Ellis Ross. This was a clear reference to Kamala Harris losing last year’s presidential election to Donald Trump.

“That’s why I’m like, don’t even look at me about running because you all are lying,” Michelle continued. “You’re not ready for a woman. You are not. So don’t waste my time. You know, we got a lot of growing up to do, and there’s still, sadly, a lot of men who do not feel like they can be led by a woman, and we saw it.”

In this same interview, Michelle talked about her time as First Lady. She served in this role from 2009-2017.

“The first spouse is not elected. I did not try to become him,” Michelle explained. “I tried to use the power that I had to support him and to elevate the issues that I cared about.”

Smith Fires Back

Smith, however, was not having any of it.

“Didn’t we just see an election take place last month where a woman won the gubernatorial seat in New Jersey — Mikie Sherrill? Didn’t we just see Abigail Spanberger win in Virginia — the gubernatorial seat? Isn’t Kathy Hochul the governor of New York? Am I missing something?” Smith asked. “Maybe I need to go back to the 2016 election with Hillary Rodham Clinton. Didn’t she win the popular vote in the United States?”

Citing the fact that Clinton got 2.9 million more votes than Trump, Smith added, “What do you mean we weren’t ready?”

“Weren’t there White women who voted for Donald Trump? Not just White men,” he continued. “Didn’t the Blacks show up for Hillary Rodham Clinton? Didn’t Hispanics show up for Hillary Rodham Clinton? Wasn’t it Hillary Rodham Clinton who spent the last few days neglecting to campaign in places like Michigan or Wisconsin or Pennsylvania or places like that while [Trump] was everywhere? Y’all remember that?”

Not stopping there, Smith proceeded to discuss Kamala Harris’ 2024 presidential loss. According to him, this happened more because Democrats ran former President Joe Biden until the last moment, rather than Americans not being ready to vote for a woman president.

“How about 2024 when Kamala Harris was running as the Democratic nominee for the presidency of the United States of America?” Smith concluded. “Yes, she did only have 107 days to do it. But whose fault was that? The Republicans, Black people, Hispanics, women, whomever. Nobody told y’all to hold on to Joe Biden for dear life until July of that summer, when there was evidence that showed months earlier that he wasn’t ready anymore.”

Obama Divorce Rumors

This comes at a difficult time for Michelle, as she and Barack have been plagued by rampant divorce rumors for over a year.

These divorce rumors escalated in a big way back in January, when Michelle skipped both the funeral of Jimmy Carter and the inauguration of Donald Trump. She was the only living former First Lady to miss each of these events. This forced Barack to attend both events alone.

“I have been hearing this rumor that the Obamas are getting a divorce by reputable people,” political commentator Meghan McCain said on reporter Tara Palmeri’s podcast earlier this year. “I’m not talking about TMZ, I’m not talking about Perez Hilton, although I love him, he’s my friend.”

“I’m talking about like very serious journalists telling me that they’re hearing that the Obama divorce rumors are true,” she continued.

“We’ve heard that for a long time,” replied Tara, who has long covered Washington politics. “Like I just heard that they live separate lives.”

Michelle Accused Of ‘Really Disliking’ Barack

Michelle launched her IMO podcast back in March. Since then, Michelle has used it to bash Barack and air his dirty laundry seemingly every chance she gets.

In fact, Michelle has complained about Barack so many times on her podcast that the former Fox News host Tucker Carlson recently claimed that the former First Lady “really dislikes her husband, and it’s super obvious.”

“I’m not just saying that to be catty,” Tucker explained. “I think I’m trying to feel compassion for her but her hostility toward the guy is unbelievable.”

Tucker’s fellow former Fox News host Megyn Kelly was quick to agree. She pointed out that “everything Michelle says about her husband is negative.”

“I almost never say negative things about Doug,” Megyn added, referring to her own husband Doug Brunt. “He’s not perfect but when I think about him, I don’t immediately go to whatever is negative. I go to what’s positive and what I love about him.”

The Obamas Respond

Back in July, Barack appeared on Michelle’s IMO podcast. There, they desperately tried to shoot down the escalating divorce rumors.

“There hasn’t been one moment in our marriage where I thought about quitting my man,” Michelle claimed. “And we’ve had some really hard times. So we had a lot of fun times, a lot of adventures, and I have become a better person because of the man I’m married to.”

“These are the kinds of things that I just miss, right?” Barack chimed in to add. “So I don’t even know this stuff’s going on. And then somebody will mention it to me and I’m all like, ‘what are you talking about?'”

Unfortunately for the Obamas, however, many are still not buying their claims that their marriage is still going strong.

Perhaps Michelle should focus a little more on her marriage, and a little less on shaming Americans for not voting for female leaders of her choice. Only time will tell if the Obama marriage will actually survive!
