Over the past few months, rumors have been swirling that Barack and Michelle Obama are heading for divorce. Indeed, it’s been claimed that the two of them have been living “separate lives” for quite some time.
On the latest episode of her IMO podcast, Michelle added to these rumors in a big way when she exposed a major medical procedure that Barack secretly underwent during their time in the White House. Michelle even gloated that Barack’s injury was an “I told you so” moment for her.
Barack’s White House Medical Procedure
“I made Barack put his basketball shoes up once he got his lip busted when he was in the White House playing a pickup game,” she told her podcast partner and older brother Craig Robinson of the 2010 incident. “I don’t think many people realize this because he was definitely in shape, athletic.”
Michelle went on to say that Craig was also playing in the White House basketball game. She added that she was actually with a doctor when she heard that there had “been an accident.”
“I’m like, ‘Ugh,’ because I’m always like, ‘Be careful playing basketball. You shouldn’t be playing now. You now have a real important job,” Michelle recalled. “And literally, he’s coming in with a gauze thing on his lip… he needed like 30-something stitches.”

White House’s Claim At The Time
At the time, the White House claimed that Barack had been accidentally hit in the mouth by Rey Decerega, an official with the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute. Ray even spoke out to say that Barack “is both a tough competitor and a good sport.”
Michelle went on to say that this injury could not have come at a worse moment, as Barack was preparing to deliver a “major speech.” This was actually an address at the bipartisan Congressional leadership meeting in the Eisenhower Executive Office.
“He had some major speech on Monday, and I was, like, ‘This is what I’m saying. You know, you’re playing like you’re 10 and now your lip is split,'” Michelle admitted.

Obama Divorce Rumors
This comes after months of rumors alleging that the Obamas are heading for divorce. These claims escalated back in January, when Michelle skipped both the funeral of Jimmy Carter and the inauguration of Donald Trump. Michelle was the only living former First Lady to not attend these events. Instead, Barack had to attend these events alone.
“I have been hearing this rumor that the Obamas are getting a divorce by reputable people,” political commentator Meghan McCain said on reporter Tara Palmeri’s podcast in January. “I’m not talking about TMZ, I’m not talking about Perez Hilton, although I love him, he’s my friend.”
“I’m talking about like very serious journalists telling me that they’re hearing that the Obama divorce rumors are true,” she added.
“We’ve heard that for a long time,” replied Tara, who has long covered Washington politics. “Like I just heard that they live separate lives.”

The Obamas have been attempting to shoot down rumors that they’re divorcing as of late. However, Michelle exposing Barack’s secret White House medical procedure doesn’t exactly make it look as if their marriage is in the best place at the moment.
Only time will tell if Barack and Michelle actually end up staying together!
