Scarlett Johansson has made history with Jurassic World Rebirth’s massive opening. She is now the highest-grossing actor, not just actress, of all time at the global box office.
The monumental achievement has solidified her place as a dominant actor in Hollywood, thanks in part to her roles in the Marvel Universe and the Jurassic Park franchise.

Marvel and Jurassic World
Johansson’s role as Zora Bennett in the new Jurassic World film provided the final push for her to become the highest-grossing actor, adding to a career total that adds up to a staggering $14.8 billion in worldwide box office gross.
Her main push into the highest-grossing category was Johansson’s nine appearances as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including blockbuster hits like Avengers: Endgame and Avengers: Infinity War.
However, Jurassic World Rebirth holds its own on Johansson’s resume, bringing in $318 million globally in its first six days. The film marks her as the lead of the franchise, taking over from Chris Pratt’s three-film reign.
Other Top-Grossing Actors
Johansson passed several prominent and beloved actors and actresses on the way to the top, most notably Marvel Cinematic Universe co-stars Samuel L. Jackson, Robert Downey Jr., and Zoe Saldana.
The feat not only showcases Johansson’s star power but also the dominance of MCU films at the global box office, as the top five highest-grossing actors are all MCU alumni. She has also been able to achieve the feat with a little more than half of Samuel Jackson’s movies, with 36 films to his 71 films.
As for other women on the highest-grossing list, there are not many. The top 20 list only includes three females, with Johansson in first, Saldana in fourth, and Harry Potter’s Emma Watson at sixteenth. Saldana is ranked so high due to her part in two huge franchises, the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the Avatar films.

However, Johansson has diversified her portfolio over the years with projects like the Sing franchise and other standalone films. This has allowed her to continue her dominance at the global box office, especially if she lands future Jurassic films.
But, do keep an eye out for Downey Jr., who is making a reappearance in the MCU as Doctor Doom, and Samuel L. Jackson is sure to be in several other Marvel projects.
