Earlier this year, we reported that Rosie O’Donnell had fled the United States to move to Ireland. Now, O’Donnell is speaking out to reveal if she’d ever consider returning to America.

Last week, we reported that Donald Trump had doubled down on his previous threat to revoke O’Donnell’s citizenship. Afterwards, O’Donnell responded in an interview with the former CNN host Jim Acosta.

Will O’Donnell Return To America?

“Is there any way you would come back?” Acosta asked O’Donnell. “Because, I mean, I’m sure people are listening to this right now and saying, ‘Rosie, we want you back here, fighting with us here.’ I love it that you’re happy there in Ireland. It’s a beautiful thing. But is there a part of you that says, ‘I want to get back in there?’”

“Right now, my heart is pounding through my chest right now,” O’Donnell replied. “I’m trying to regulate myself.”

O’Donnell went on to say that it’s not her “responsibility” to return to America to fight Trump. However, she added that she will continue to “stand up” for those who cannot.

Trump Threatens To Revoke O’Donnell’s Citizenship

This came after Trump again threatened to revoke O’Donnell’s American citizenship last Wednesday.

“As previously mentioned, we are giving serious thought to taking away Rosie O’Donnell’s Citizenship,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform. “She is not a Great American and is, in my opinion, incapable of being so!”

O’Donnell fired back the next day on her Substack.

“He can’t do that because it’s against the Constitution, and even the Supreme Court has not given him the right to do that … he’s not allowed to do that, the only way you’re allowed to take away someone’s citizenship is if they renounce it themselves, and I will never renounce my American citizenship,” O’Donnell wrote. “I am a very proud citizen of the United States.”

“I am also getting my citizenship here so I can have dual citizenship in Ireland and the United States because I enjoy living here,” she continued. “It’s very peaceful. I love the politics of the country. I love the people and their generous hearts and spirit. And it’s been very good for my daughter. But I still want to maintain my citizenship in the United States. My children are there. I will be there visiting and go to see them. And I have the freedom to do that, as does every American citizen.”

O’Donnell Flees America

O’Donnell has long been known as one of the most obsessively anti-Trump celebrities in Hollywood. Given how vehemently anti-Trump the entertainment world is, that’s saying a lot!

In fact, O’Donnell despises Trump so much that she moved across the globe just to get away from him. Indeed, she shocked the world when she fled the U.S. and moved to Ireland with her 12 year-old child Clay back in January.

In June, O’Donnell admitted to the former CNN host Chris Cuomo that she fled America because of Donald Trump’s presidential victory. She even described this move as being one of “self-preservation,” since she greatly struggled during Trump’s first presidency.

“During his first go-round, it was very difficult, and I got myself into some bad places,” said O’Donnell. “You know, I was very, very depressed. I was overeating, I was overdrinking. I was so depressed, Chris.”

Does O’Donnell Regret Leaving America?

In a May interview, O’Donnell claimed to have no regrets about making this move.

“Never, for one moment since I arrived here, did I regret my choice,” O’Donnell told Variety at the time. “People have been so welcoming, so accepting, and they have a different view of celebrity in the culture here. They are not prioritized over other people.”

In another video posted to TikTok, however, O’Donnell admitted that “it’s not easy moving to another country.”

Watch O’Donnell talk more about that in the video below.

In the end, it’s clear that America is better off without a bitter liberal elite like Rosie O’Donnell in it. Here’s hoping that she doesn’t return to America anytime soon. Good riddance!
