Earlier this year, we reported that Rosie O’Donnell had fled the United States to move to Ireland.
Last week, we reported that Donald Trump had doubled down on his previous threat to revoke O’Donnell’s citizenship. Now, O’Donnell is admitting that she’d already like to return to America just a few months after she left the country.
Go figure!
O’Donnell Wants To ‘Go Back’ To America
While being interviewed on 60 Minutes Australia, O’Donnell was asked about the possibility of ever returning to America. That’s when O’Donnell indicated that she might soon come crawling back to her home country.
“I would like to go back and see my older children and do all of those things when it’s safe,” O’Donnell confessed. “And we have people there in the United States who are advising me on what would be right and healthy and what would be safe for myself and my family. And I’m going to listen to those experts.”
In this same interview, O’Donnell was asked about Trump’s post last week about potentially revoking her citizenship.
“Because of the fact that Rosie O’Donnell is not in the best interests of our Great Country, I am giving serious consideration to taking away her Citizenship,” Trump wrote. “She is a Threat to Humanity, and should remain in the wonderful Country of Ireland, if they want her. GOD BLESS AMERICA!”
This didn’t sit well with 60 Minutes Australia host Adam Hegarty.
“He’s going to revoke your citizenship,” Hegarty said. “I read the other day.”
“That’s what he said,” O’Donnell replied. “But that’s against the Constitution as of now. But as we know, he has pawns in the Supreme Court and you never know what he’d be able to do, right?”
Oh please, Rosie!
When contacted for comment on O’Donnell’s interview, the White House was quick to fire back.
“Every day that Rosie isn’t in America is a great day for American citizens,” White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson told Fox News. “President Trump was right about everything.”
O’Donnell Flees America Over Trump
O’Donnell has long been known as one of the most obsessively anti-Trump celebrities in Hollywood. Given how vehemently anti-Trump Hollywood is, that’s saying a lot!
In fact, O’Donnell despises Trump so much that she moved across the globe just to get away from him. Indeed, she shocked the world when she fled the U.S. and moved to Ireland with her 12 year-old child Clay back in January.
In June, O’Donnell admitted to the former CNN host Chris Cuomo that she fled America because of Donald Trump’s presidential victory. She even described this move as being one of “self-preservation,” since she greatly struggled during Trump’s first presidency.
“During his first go-round, it was very difficult, and I got myself into some bad places,” said O’Donnell. “You know, I was very, very depressed. I was overeating, I was overdrinking. I was so depressed, Chris.”
Does O’Donnell Have Regrets?
In a May interview, O’Donnell claimed to have no regrets about making this move.
“Never, for one moment since I arrived here, did I regret my choice,” O’Donnell told Variety at the time. “People have been so welcoming, so accepting, and they have a different view of celebrity in the culture here. They are not prioritized over other people.”
However, her latest 60 Minutes Australia interview isn’t the first time O’Donnell has indicated that she might actually have some regrets. In another video posted to TikTok, O’Donnell admitted that “it’s not easy moving to another country.”
Watch O’Donnell talk more about that in the video below.
Many would agree with the White House that America is better off without a liberal elite like O’Donnell in it. Here’s hoping Rosie O’Donnell gets used to her new life in Ireland, because we don’t want her back in the States anytime soon!
