Duane “Dog the Bounty Hunter” Chapman has become the latest celebrity to move to the great state of Florida after he sold his longtime mansion in Colorado.
Dog moved to Florida with his wife Francie Frane, who he married one year ago.
“I love Colorado — it will always be special to me and Francie,” Dog, 69, told The New York Post. “We have moved to the sunny state of Florida and are enjoying the warmer weather. Aloha.”
Dog had bought his Colorado home for just $750,000 back in 2009, and he sold it on Monday at the asking price of $1,595,000. The mansion is located on nine acres of land in Castle Rock, and it boasts six bedrooms and five bathrooms.
The listing says that the 6,200 square foot home includes an updated kitchen with granite counters, a great room with floor-to-ceiling windows, a fireplace and a movie theater. It also has an “expansive deck for spectacular Colorado sunsets.”
The listing was held by Karen and Scott Beville with Coldwell Banker Realty.
“I was so impressed upon first meeting Dog: such a sweet, personable man, ready to dive in to do whatever was needed in the final days of prepping the ranch for sale,” Karen said. “Dog was fabulous help, mowing the front acres of the ranch and helping Francie with the hard work of sorting and moving.”
“The day before the property was listed in the MLS, Dog suggested we pray,” she continued. “As the four of us, Dog and Francie, my husband Mick and I, held hands in a small circle, Dog led us in prayer that this home be found by a family who really needed and would love such a home. And that prayer was soon answered.”
TMZ reported that the Colorado mansion is where Dog lived with his wife Beth before she died of lung cancer back in 2019 at the age of 51. Dog would go on to marry Francie, who also lost her husband to cancer.
Dog said that as he moves to Florida, he is hoping to tackle the growing sex trafficking epidemic with the launch of The D.O.G. Foundation. He added that he will be assisting survivors of trafficking and abuse.
Dog told Coastal Breeze News earlier this year that he was planning to relocate to Naples, Florida.
“My wife Francie and Katie Souza are putting together the homes for the girls,” Dog said. “We’re moving here because of my belief and my faith. And it’s warm here all the time. We won’t go into politics, but that’s a good one, too.”
“A lot of people are coming to Florida,” he added. “A lot of people are going to a lot of different cities where crime is not running rampant. And Florida is one of those places. I feel safe to bring my family here. We’ve already started. I don’t like to say, ‘Things to come,’ but we already started our move.”
Tons of people have been moving to Florida thanks in large part to how the Republican Governor Ron DeSantis is running the state. We certainly can’t blame Dog for making this move, and we hope he enjoys his time in the great state of Florida!
