Sad Details Emerge About Tom Brady’s Divorce From Gisele Bündchen – ‘This Was Not Tom’s Idea’

It’s been one week since Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen shocked the world by revealing that they had finalized their divorce after thirteen years of marriage. Now, sources are coming forward to reveal some sad details about the split, with one saying that Brady “didn’t want” the divorce to happen.

‘This Was Not Tom’s Idea’

“This was not Tom’s idea,” an insider told People Magazine of the divorce. “This was never Tom’s idea.”

The source went on to say that Brady “wanted to do whatever he needed to do to fix things” with Bündchen because he “didn’t want the divorce and he didn’t want the marriage to end.”

Brady, 45, was “willing to go to therapy, marriage counseling — whatever it took to make things work,” according to the source, who added that the NFL star “didn’t want the kids to have divorced parents; he wanted to work this out.”

While Brady “was trying to make things work, and to make things right” during the period “near the end” of the marriage, Bündchen, 42, felt that “it was a little bit too little, too late.”

Bündchen ‘Gave Him A Lot Of Opportunities’

“She gave him a lot of opportunities to fix things, and he didn’t,” the source continued, adding that Bündchen felt that Brady “wasn’t hearing what she was saying” because he was “busy following his passion” during the thirteen years that they were married. Based on this, it appears that the reports of Bündchen being upset over Brady “un-retiring” earlier this year and agreeing to play another season for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as quarterback were true.

Another insider said that Brady and Bündchen “agreed to joint custody of the kids,” and that they will live around four hours apart, with him living in Tampa and her residing in Miami, where he also has a home. A third source told Page Six that the couple had an “ironclad” prenuptial agreement in place prior to their split, which made their divorce simple to work through.

“There was an ironclad prenup set down before they married in 2009,” this source said. “They both have their own separate business entities, so the separation of their wealth wasn’t that complicated in the end. The only other major factor was dividing up their massive property portfolio.”

Brady Addresses Divorce In Press Conference

On Thursday, during his first press conference since news of his divorce broke, Brady was asked “what the last few days, the last few weeks” have been like for him both personally and professionally.

“I’ve always tried to do the best I could do here, and then when I leave here I try to do the best I could do, and that’s what we all try to do,” he said. “I’m sure everyone sitting in this room, sitting at home, just trying to wake up every day doing the best they could do for their families and their career, and I’m no different.”

“So just try to do the best you can do everyday, and I’m certainly no different,” he added.

‘All You Can Do Is The Best You Could Do’

Brady made similar comments on Monday in this week’s episode of his “Let’s Go!” podcast.

“I think there’s a lot of professionals in life that go through things that they deal with at work and they deal with at home,” he said. “Obviously, the good news is it’s a very amicable situation and I’m really focused on two things, taking care of my family and certainly my children, and secondly, doing the best job I can to win football games.”

“So, that’s what professionals do,” Brady continued. “You focus at work when it’s time to work, and then when you come home you focus on the priorities that are at home. All you can do is the best you could do. That’s what I’ll just continue to do as long as I’m working and as long as I’m being a dad.”

While it’s sad to see any marriage come to an end, particularly when a couple has been together as long as Brady and Bündchen were, we hope that they are each able to find happiness in both their professional and personal lives moving forward.
