After weeks of rumors that their marriage is on the rocks, Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen have finalized their divorce, and they’ve each since broken their silence to address the situation on Instagram in separate posts.

Brady And Bündchen Announce Divorce

“In recent days my wife and I finalized our divorce from one another after 13 years of marriage,” Brady wrote on his Instagram Story, according to Fox News. “We arrived at this decision amicably and with gratitude for the time we spent together.”

“We are blessed with beautiful and wonderful children who will continue to be the center of our world in every way,” he added. “We will continue to work together as parents to always ensure they receive the love and attention they deserve.”

Bündchen spoke out about the divorce on her own Instagram Story as well.

“The decision to end a marriage is never easy but we have grown apart and while it is, of course, difficult to go through something like this, I feel blessed for the time we had together and only wish the best for Tom always.” she stated. “I kindly ask that our privacy be respected during this sensitive time. Thank you.”

Bündchen Gave Brady An Ultimatum

This came after Brady suffered his first straight three-game loss in the last 20 years of his career when he led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a 27-22 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday, according to Daily Mail. The loss happened as sources revealed that Bündchen had given Brady an ultimatum over his decision to continue playing football.

“Gisele told Tom either he leaves football to spend time with the family or she is gone for good,” a source told Us Weekly. “She doesn’t want him to continue to get injured and not be able to enjoy life in the future. She is doing it for her family.”

Reports of Brady and Bündchen’s marital issues began to circulate immediately after he decided to “un-retire” earlier this year and continue playing for the Buccaneers despite announcing last year that he was done playing football.

“Gisele has always been the one with the kids,” another source said at the time. “They had agreed he would retire to focus on the family, then he changed his mind.”

Brady and Bündchen are parents to a son Benjamin, 14, and a daughter Vivian, 9. He’s also a father to his 15 year-old son Jack from his previous relationship with the “Blue Bloods” actress Bridget Moynahan.

Things Got ‘Very Nasty’ Between Brady And Bündchen

Sources told Page Six last week that things had gotten “very nasty between Tom and Gisele” after they each hired divorce attorneys.

“They are ready to fight,” this insider said. “It will take some time to divide their immense wealth and property all over the world.”

Bündchen appeared to slightly open up about her marital issues in an interview with Elle last month, indicating that she wanted to be able to focus on her own career instead of Brady’s.

“I feel very fulfilled, as a mother and as a wife. And now it’s going to be my turn,” she said at the time. “I’ve done my part, which is [to] be there for [Tom]. I moved to Boston, and I focused on creating a cocoon and a loving environment for my children to grow up in and to be there supporting him and his dream.”

While it’s sad to see any marriage come to an end, perhaps this decision to divorce will bring Brady and Bündchen some peace. We can only hope that for the sake of their children, they can have an amicable relationship moving forward.
