Backstage Fight After AEW All Out, Ring of Honor TV Deal

CM Punk once again won the AEW World Championship at this past weekend’s All Out event, creating a buzz in the wrestling world. Then, he dropped a major pipe bomb during the media scrum after the pay-per-view (PPV). A new report reveals he was also part of a major backstage incident.

Backstage Fight After AEW All Out

According to the Wrestling Observer, a backstage fight took place after the All Out media scrum. The entire incident is still being looked into.

As per the report, Punk swung fists at the Young Bucks’ Matt Jackson. Punk’s friend/trainer (and AEW producer) Ace Steel threw a chair that hit Bucks’ Nick Jackson.

In fact, that chair ended up hitting Nick’s eye. Plus, Kenny Omega was also involved.

Allegedly, Steel bit Kenny and pulled his hair. Omega and the Jackson brothers all hold Executive Vice President roles within AEW.

For those that recall, Steel participated in the onscreen storyline where CM Punk got this past Sunday’s match against Jon Moxley. A PW Insider report also adds some insight into this over-the-top situation.

More On The Backstage Fight After AEW All Out

According to PW Insider, Omega and the Young Bucks confronted CM Punk in his locker room. This was not too long after the two-time AEW champion lashed out at Colt Cabana, the three EVPs, Adam Page, and others during the All Out’s media scrum.

Reports reveal that security and staff broke up the backstage fight. One security guard was seen running out of Punk’s locker room, as the media scrum was still happening.

AEW has yet to publicly comment on the backstage fight. It seems as if there’s an investigation to figure out what happened and who’s ultimately responsible for the incident.

With that said, Fightful Select has already noted that Steel will likely not remain with AEW. He’s currently a producer and has dabbled in storylines onscreen.

AEW seemingly has its fair share of backstage issues. Just recently, Eddie Kingston was suspended for two weeks after a physical altercation with Sammy Guevara.

This all happened after a Rampage taping that took place in Minneapolis, Minnesota on August 10th. Kingston apologized for the situation and took responsibility for his actions.

Speaking of AEW, their sister promotion, Ring of Honor (ROH), was bought out by Tony Khan earlier this year. There’s an update below on its television deal.

Ring of Honor TV Deal

Khan recently revealed that he’s working to acquire a TV deal for ROH. It’s been also revealed that Tony doesn’t have full ownership of the promotion, currently.

This is why it’s been challenging for him to secure a television deal for ROH. Therefore, there isn’t a TV program in ROH’s near future. As per Fightful’s Sean Sapp, people backstage haven’t heard of any progress in this regard.

Talent Is Being Gathered

Added details within the Fightful report also note that talent is still being gathered for a possible TV deal. As of right now, Tony Khan is the promotion’s owner, in name only.

There’s no exact timeline of when he’ll fully acquire ownership of ROH. Fans will have to wait and see when the promotion gets back on television.
