Who Chose Stephanie McMahon As CEO? + Bets On 2023 Royal Rumble

The WWE board is currently investigating Vince McMahon, and he had recently stepped down as CEO and Chairman. His daughter Stephanie has stepped into the role, for the time being. One has to ask, who chose her for the role? WNZ has the answer to this.

Who Chose Stephanie McMahon As CEO?

Dave Meltzer recently talks about this in his latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter. In fact, he notes that four WWE board members were not involved in making the decision around who should be interim CEO and Chairperson.

The individual NOT involved in the process were Stephanie and Vince, as well as Nick Khan and Paul Levesque (Triple H). Meltzer states that while it was VKM’s decision to step down, he did recuse himself from choosing his interim successor.

There were eight WWE board members that were a part of the process. They include Ignace Lahoud (CEO of Majid Al Futtaim), Steve Koonin (CEO of the Atlanta Hawks and State Farm Arena in Atlanta), and Erika Nardini (CEO of Barstool Sports).

As well, members who elected Stephanie include Steve Pamon (President, Verzuz) and Jeffrey Speed (EVP and CFO of Six Flags, Inc.). In addition, Connor Schell (CEO and Found of Words + Pictures) and Alan Wexler SVP of Innovations and Growth for General Motors.

Lastly, there’s Man Jit Singh, the lead independent director of the board. He is the WWE board member running Vince’s current investigation.

More On Who Chose Stephanie McMahon As CEO

It’s been reported that after Stephanie took her “leave of absence” in April, WWE “higher-ups” were looking to bury her on her way out. During this latest edition, Meltzer states none of the eight WWE board members who voted Steph in were part of the “burial behind the scenes”.

As per Fightful Select, many talents backstage were very happy about Stephanie being chosen as CEO and Chairwoman. Clearly, she’s loved and respected by many.

SummerSlam is the next “Big Four” WWE pay-per-view (PPV) on the horizon. However, it’s natural for the WWE (and its fans) to look ahead to another major one, the 2023 Royal Rumble!

Bets On 2023 Royal Rumble

The 2023 Royal Rumble is about six months away. With that said, early betting odds suggest a number of superstars that aren’t currently on TV are favored to win the big match.

It’s expected that betting odds pop up for major WWE events. They tend to appear months ahead of time.

As per Bet Online, Cody Rhodes is the top contender. He has a 5/4 chance of winning the men’s Royal Rumble bout.

Interestingly enough, behind him is The Rock, with an 11/2 chance. Big E rounds the top three with an 11/1 chance.

All three men are at different points in their WWE careers. Still, they share a common theme with all not currently in storylines.

Speculation Among Fans Is Running Rapid

Rhodes taking the Royal Rumble doesn’t sound overly surprising. Since he returned to the company this past WrestleMania, he’s a man on a mission to become WWE Champion.

With that said, Big E’s neck injury is slowly but surely, recovering. There are many fans out there that would love to see him as a returning surprise entrant and winner.

Lastly, there has been a buzz that the Rock could face his cousin Roman Reigns at WM 39 in Hollywood. There was also a tease of this during a recent episode of Young Rock.

So much can change in six months. Therefore, only time will tell.
