Ricochet is an incredible talent in the WWE; however, he hasn’t had much of a push in the past. A new report reveals the WWE has some major plans in store for the SmackDown superstar, soon.
PW Insider’s Mike Johnson recently answered a fan’s question about Ricochet and his status with the WWE. Specifically, they wanted to know why the superstar was put over so much during last week’s SmackDown.
Johnson replied with some good news for Ricochet fans. He notes that the talent is slated to become the #2 babyface on the Blue brand when it comes to singles competition.
That leaves him just behind Drew McIntyre as the top face. Johnson states that internally, Shinsuke Nakamura and the New Day are listed as top faces for the tag team division.
As we trot along the Road to WrestleMania, there’s no better time to get a push for a WWE superstar. Ricochet is impressive on many levels, so it’ll be very interesting to see what happens next for him within storylines.
But will he be able to break through as a top face with the push and extra exposure he’s getting? Only time will tell.
Over to the women’s division, Asuka has been out of action for quite a while. There have been teases around a return leading up to the Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber, but this never ended up happening.
Asuka has seemingly recovered from her injury, so what’s the holdup? More on this story, below.
PW Insider’s Mike Johnson shed some light on Asuka’s WWE status. He notes while the hope was for her to return within the month, this might now happen.
What’s the reason? Johnson says it’s because the WWE has no creative plans for her as of yet.
With WM 38 around the corner, this isn’t the best news for Asuka and her fans. If the WWE lacks creative direction for her, she may be left out of the Grandest Stage of Them All, this year.
Asuka entered the land of the WWE in 2015 and has achieved some incredible milestones during her tenure. She quickly became NXT Women’s Champion and had a historic undefeated streak of 914 days before Charlotte Flair defeated her at WrestleMania 34.
In addition to her NXT Women’s title reign, she’s been crowned RAW Women’s Champion twice, and SmackDown Women’s Champion, once. She’s also held the WWE Women’s tag titles twice, once with Kairi Sane and once with Charlotte.
Asuka is the second woman in WWE history to become a Grand Slam Champion, and the third woman to achieve Triple Crown status. Plus, she’s truly done it all in the women’s division by winning the 2019 Women’s Royal Rumble and becoming the 2020 Miss Money in the Bank.
Asuka’s last match before she hit the injured list was the 2021 Money in the Bank. She was not sent to a specific brand during last year’s Draft, and is, therefore, a “free agent”.
Here’s hoping she returns to in-ring action, very soon. She’s a benefit to the women’s division and is sure to stir things up once she comes back.
