Braun Strowman Title Win Nixed, Alberto Del Rio: Paige Owes $1 Million

Remember the 2018 Crown Jewel event? The original plan was for Braun Strowman to beat Brock Lesnar and become WWE Universal Champion. But, the title win was nixed.

Rewinding in WWE history, Brock Lesnar defeated Braun Strowman at the Crown Jewel event to become Universal Champion. For those that remember, Roman Reigns declared the title vacant late that year, due to leukemia.

However, that wasn’t the original plan. Ex-WWE writer, Kazeem Kamuyide recently talked about last-minute rewrites to the pay-per-view (PPV) during his podcast, Say Less With Kaz, Lowkey, and Rosy.

According to Kaz, WWE creative had an entire Monday Night RAW planned with Braun winning the championship. As plans changed, the entire show needed to be rewritten.

Kaz relays that it was a situation where some of the writers were more than a little frustrated. They were watching the event unfold when they realized they had to head back to the office to rewrite RAW.

Braun Strowman Scored The Title In 2020

While Strowman failed to capture the Universal Championship in late 2018, he did finally win the title in 2020. He did so by defeating WWE Hall of Famer Bill Goldberg at WrestleMania 36.

He also has another opportunity coming his way soon. This time for the WWE Championship.

Braun is booked in a triple threat match against current champ Bobby Lashley, and former champ Drew McIntyre on May 16th during the WM Backlash PPV. Will he score another title on his WWE resume?

Shifting gears, Alberto Del Rio and Paige are once again in the news. While they’ve been broken up for years, the former WWE Champion recently spoke out about their past relationship.

Alberto Del Rio: Paige Owes $1 Million

Remember back in 2016 when Alberto Del Rio and Paige were a thing? The two were once very much in love, but broke things off by the end of 2017, despite being engaged.

Their relationship seemed like a roller coaster ride, with major ups and downs. Everything they did was played out over social media.

Del Rio was recently interviewed by Lucha Libre Online. He provided some information about their past romance.

They Had A $1M Confidentially Agreement

According to Alberto, he felt as if he and the former WWE Divas Champion could have “built an empire” together. Still, he notes they did the opposite.

Alberto stated that the two “dedicated” themselves to doing things that were not productive for their lives or careers. He also revealed they had a confidentiality agreement worth $1 million.

Del Rio added that after signing the agreement he found out that Paige didn’t own a car, house, or even have more than $70,000 in the bank. He felt she had “nothing” to lose, while he did.

He said that the money he’s earned in wrestling belongs to his kids. This is why he never broke the confidentiality agreement, he didn’t want to risk it.

Alberto did accuse Paige of not complying with the confidentiality deal. He talked about her accusations around domestic abuse.

Del Rio noted that within their relationship, there was a person arrested three times for domestic abuse, which was not him. There was also a person (not him) who have six to seven police reports for domestic abuse.

Alberto finished things off by saying he wants nothing to do with the former women’s wrestler. His main focus is his children.

He also noted he doesn’t want to ruin Page’s life. Rather, he just wanted her to leave him alone.

Alberto and former WWE superstar Andrade are set to wrestling this Saturday, July 31st. The match will take place in McAllen, Texas.

He’s also working on re-launching the Nación Lucha Libre promotion, along with Chavo Guerrero. There is said to be a possible television deal in the works.
