Vindication For Piers Morgan As ITV Head Admits He’s Impossible To Replace On ‘Good Morning Britain’

Last month, Piers Morgan quit his job cohosting “Good Morning Britain” after he refused to apologize for criticizing Meghan Markle for her interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Now, Morgan seems to be getting the last laugh, as the head of the network that “Good Morning Britain” airs on is admitting that it will be impossible to replace him on the show.

In case you missed Morgan storming off the set of the talk show when confronted about his attacks on Meghan, you can check that out below.

ITV Head Speaks Out About Piers Morgan

Yahoo News reported that Kevin Lygo, ITV’s director of television, admitted this week that it will not be possible to replace Morgan on “Good Morning Britain.”

“Piers is a special thing. You can’t replace somebody like him. There is nobody like Piers, for good or bad,” he said. “We have a roster of presenters, including Ben (Shephard), Susanna (Reid), Charlotte (Hawkins) and Kate (Garraway).”

“They’re all stepping up and doing a few more days than they would have done,” he added. “We’ll mix and match until we feel what the right thing is to do. There isn’t a single person (who can replace him).”

Lygo went on to say that he is “amazed” that Morgan was able to stay at “Good Morning Britain,” as long as he did. And declared that they had some “good innings” during his time there.

He then insisted that Morgan still has a good relationship with ITV, which will still be broadcasting his interview series “Life Stories.”

“Half the world wanted Piers dead and half the world wanted a statue erected in his favour. You need to tread a diplomatic line,” Lygo said. “Piers felt he was doing the right thing, felt very strongly about it, and we just felt it wasn’t quite compatible with some of the things we’re involved with. It was an amicable split.”

Morgan Stays Defiant On Meghan Markle Criticism

This comes after Morgan suggested that he quit his job on the morning talk show rather than apologize to Meghan on air.

“I believe in freedom of speech,” Morgan said after leaving the show. “I believe in the right to be allowed to have an opinion. If people want to believe Meghan Markle, that’s entirely their right.”

“I don’t believe almost anything that comes out of her mouth and I think the damage she’s done to the British monarchy, and to the Queen, at a time when Prince Philip is lying in hospital, is enormous and frankly contemptible,” he continued. “If I have to fall on my sword for expressing an honestly held opinion about Meghan Markle and that diatribe of bilge that she came out within that interview, so be it.”

There Really Is Nobody Like Piers Morgan

We applaud Morgan for refusing to back down and for taking a stand for freedom of speech.

Lygo hits the nail on the head in saying that he will be impossible to replace.

James Conrad

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
