While he’s not on the final card, we’ve got the proposed Goldberg – WrestleMania 37 match discussed here. Also, WrestleMania’s historic night one is set!

Goldberg – WrestleMania 37 Match Discussed

If you look at the final card, Goldberg is not working this weekend…but a Goldberg-WrestleMania 37 match was discussed.

So, if that match had happened, what would we have been enduring?

Well, if you suspected that the WWE Hall of Famer would be rehashing a previous match…you’d be right.

Goldberg came in and worked a match with then-WWE Champion Drew McIntyre at this year’s Royal Rumble.

According to Fightful Select, there were plans for a rematch. A WrestleMania 37 match was discussed between McIntyre and Goldberg…but it did not happen.

Plenty of fans are happy that they won’t see Goldberg this weekend, to be honest…

Though, some are a bit sad, too…

At some point after that match was discussed, plans changed. WWE decided to pivot significantly.

Instead of Drew and Goldberg, we are getting Bobby Lashley battling the Scottish Psychopath.

And of course, going in to WrestleMania 37, Drew McIntyre is now the challenger. Lashley took the gold from The Miz, after an abbreviated run following another sad MITB cash in.

Historic Night One Set

WrestleMania is a big deal each and every year, but this one is perhaps bigger than ever. To return to live action, a historic night one is set.

How historic? Well, for yet another WrestleMania, the second time in three shows, we have a women’s match serving as the main event.

According to Stephanie McMahon, the title match between Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair will close out Saturday’s action.

McMahon made that announcement on a recent Bill Simmons podcast.

So, you could call this historic for a few reasons, really.

First, as I mentioned, it is the second time a women’s match tops a night. If you want to be picky, yes, this one is said to be the main event of “only” one of two nights.

But, it’s still a WrestleMania main event. For perspective, this would be the same slot that The Undertaker’s final WrestleMania match had last year.

In other words, pretty good company.

For another, it’s the first WrestleMania main event in front of a live audience in 2 years. That may not be a huge deal, but it’s something.

Perhaps the biggest? That first women’s match…

It was a triple threat, featuring Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch and Ronda Rousey.

This one is a pure singles match, and it gives Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair a chance to shine.

Also, there’s this to consider:

Considering what both are capable of, it’s a fair bet that they may just bring down the house Saturday night.
