will finn balor relinquish

Finn Balor was injured during his title defense at TakeOver 31-will Finn Balor have to relinquish the NXT title? Also, was Ronda Rousey’s contract extended?

Will Finn Balor Relinquish NXT Title

At NXT TakeOver 31, yet another NXT Champion suffered a serious injury-but will Finn Balor relinquish the NXT title?

That remains to be seen. On the October 14th edition of NXT television, it was made clear that, while Balor is injured, he has yet to relinquish the title.

The situation is quite fluid. WWE would prefer to not have yet another NXT Champion give up the title.

However, seeing as how they had Karrion Kross vacate immediately, there is a very recent precedent that may force their hand.

According to the Wrestling Observer, no decision has been made yet. It appears as though WWE will give Balor every chance to have his jaw heal.

Should he heal fast enough, the NXT Champion may be allowed to keep it and defend it yet again. However, if his busted jaw does not heal quick enough, we may be looking at our second straight NXT Championship vacated.

For the time being, Finn Balor is still the NXT Champion. However, it’s a situation to be watched closely.

His jaw, as we’ve seen, is still a bit of a mess…

With NXT’s next big special, Halloween Havoc, later this month, it may be a safe bet that a decision will be reached either way in time for that show.

Was Ronda Rousey Extended

Much has been said about Ronda Rousey’s WWE status…so here’s something more. Was Ronda Rousey extended by WWE?

While nothing has been said by anyone in any official capacity, a certain WWE personality recently spoke to the New York Post and dropped a bit of a possible hint.

Ronda Rousey Welcomed Back

Specifically, Paul Heyman-a big Ronda Rousey supporter-made it sound like Rousey’s contract may have been extended already.

Recent reports had surfaced to remind us that Rousey’s contract was likely to expire in or near April of 2021. That would make sense, considering WWE favors three year terms, and Rousey debuted at the 2018 Royal Rumble.

However, in Heyman’s Post interview, here’s what the mad genius had to say on Rousey’s status:

“Everyone presumes that Ronda Rousey’s contract expires at a certain time. I don’t understand why people don’t realize that perhaps, just perhaps, Ronda Rousey’s contract has been extended or she has worked out a new deal and it would not benefit either WWE or Ronda Rousey to go public with that information. But why wouldn’t people understand that it would be kept secret?”

So, while Heyman isn’t going to come out and explicitly state Ronda Rousey had her contract extended, he may have some inside information.

After all, Paul Heyman was a big Ronda Rousey supporter, and all indications have been that the two were close within WWE.

Heyman’s comment is smart, and it should likely carry some weight. Maybe she has re-signed, maybe she hasn’t.

As Heyman said-if Rousey has been extended, WWE may not want it to be general knowledge.

Meaning, perhaps they want to save a surprise for some major event down the road.
