Naomi Undergoes Unexpected Surgery, Hurricane Helms Teases Return

Naomi Undergoes Unexpected Surgery

Just when things were heating up for WWE superstar Naomi, the talented female wrestler was hit with a road bump.

Noami let fans know on social media that she was forced to undergo unexpected surgery. The operation was needed to remove a fibroid that was causing many issues with her.

“The Glow” updated her fans on Instagram.

“In the midst of Hurricane Sally and COVID, I also underwent an unexpected six-hour surgery. It was to finally remove a massive fibroid that’s caused me severe anemia fatigue, horrible abdominal pains and more problems.”

“I don’t even want to mention over the past year-and-a-half. I’m recovering well. I’m relieved and already feeling so much better.”

“So family and fans don’t worry. I’m ok. Lol, miss ya.”

Before the surgery, WWE had finally decided to push Naomi. For months, fans sent out messages using social media demanding a proper push.

The surgery will likely cause Naomi to miss some in-ring time. Currently, there is no word on when she will be cleared to compete.

The 32-year-old, real name Trinity Fatu, signed with the WWE back in 2009. She is a former dancer-turned-wrestler and competes on SmackDown.

In 2010, Naomi was part of the all-female third season of NXT, placing second overall. Two years later she made her main roster debut with Cameron forming The Funkadactyls.

Along with appearing on Total Divas, Naomi is a former winner of the WWE SmackDown women’s title. She made history with her victory in 2017, becoming the first-ever African-American female to win the belt.

Following an injury that forced her to vacate the title, Naomi won it back at WrestleMania 33. She also became the first winner of the WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal.

Hurricane Helms Teases Return

Part of the WWE releases earlier this year due to COVID-19 was Shane “Hurricane” Helms.

The former superstar has been on the sidelines since, but is looking forward to a potential return to action.

“I used to do stuff,” Helms said in a video released on social media. “About time to start it back up I guess.

The video included highlights of Helms in tag team action from his time in ECW.

The message, posted on Twitter, did include tags for both the WWE and WWE Network.

Helms, a 46-year-old from North Carolina, began his wrestling career at just 17 years of age. In 1999, he signed with the WCW, competing as part of the group known as 3 Count.

Helms would win both the WCW hardcore and cruiserweight titles, with WWE purchasing his contract when they brought the promotion.

During his run in the WWE, Helms captured the European, hardcore, cruiserweight and tag team titles with both Kane and Rosey.

While away from the ring, Helms has kept busy, continuing his career as a writer of comic books. He recently even took a class with Ron Marz.

“Learning from one of my favorite writers,” Helms posted. “Thank you Ron.”

At his age, WWE likely will not hire Helms as an active competitor. The same may go for All Elite Wrestling.

Although, there any smaller promotion may sign the former WWE and WCW wrestler.
