Lyssa Chapman reacts Dog The Bounty Hunter engagement to Francie Frane

Yesterday, we reported that Duane “Dog The Bounty Hunter” Chapman proposed to his new girlfriend Francie Frane just ten months after the death of his beloved wife Beth Chapman. Beth died at the age of 51 after a very public battle with cancer. Now, Dog’s daughter Lyssa Chapman has broken her silence about the engagement.

Most fans remember Lyssa’s outspoken disapproval of Dog the Bounty Hunter’s relationship with family friend Moon Angell. That relationship spiraled quickly and culminated with a shocking proposal on “The Dr. Oz Show”.

So for many it might come as a surprise that Lyssa is very much on board with her dad’s engagement.

Lyssa Chapman Breaks Her Silence On Dog The Bounty Hunter’s Engagement

“Welcome to the Fam Fran!” Lyssa wrote on Instagram alongside a story on her father’s proposal, according to MSN

Lyssa’s positive response came as a surprise to many given how angry she was when it appeared that her dad was moving on with Moon Angell, who had reportedly been Beth’s assistant for years and had dated Lyssa’s brother.

When reports surfaced that Dog had started a romance with Angell, Lyssa spoke out to blast the woman on Twitter.

“If someone who met your family by dating your brother, tried to date your father after your step-mom died what would you do?” Lyssa tweeted on January 6, referring to Angell. “If you went to your mothers closet and saw she moved all her clothes and replaced them with her own, what would you do? #ItsNotWhenOrWhyItsWho.”

Lyssa’s reaction to Dog’s romance with Francie Frane, however, has been very different.

She explained last week that the reason behind this is that she feels Frane, a rancher from Colorado, is just a better person than Angell is.

“I only care about the quality of the woman that my dad is dating,” she explained, pointing out that the Angell situation was totally different. “I do think that Francie is an amazing woman and I think that the circumstances are just so much different.”

Lyssa Chapman Admits It’s Hard To Watch Her Dad Move On

Lyssa went on to acknowledge that it’s hard to watch Dog move on after how iconic his marriage to Beth was.

“I think that it’s really hard for people to see dad move on,” Lyssa told The Sun. “It’s hard for us, it’s hard for the world. Beth and Dog were always together for everything.”

That being said, she does not feel that fans should be judging Dog for his new relationship.

“I think it’s kind of selfish for people to kind of on-look and say things [about their relationship], even myself,” Lyssa said. “It’s selfish to put your judgment on someone and say, ‘You didn’t wait long enough, or you should have waited more time or that it’s disrespectful.’ I think that’s selfish. You don’t know what someone’s going through.”

Francie Frane And Dog The Bounty Hunter Bond Over Losing Their Spouses

Frane lost her own husband just before Beth died, so she and Dog have bonded over their shared grief.

“They both lost their spouses to cancer, so they know what it’s like to go through that and they are helping each other through it,” Lyssa said. “But at the same time, they are being very respectful of each other’s grieving process.”

“She is a good woman for my dad,” daughter Lyssa added.

It’s good to see the Chapman family happy and at peace.
