Host Hoda Kotb broke down in tears live on the “TODAY” show this morning after interviewing NFL quarterback Drew Brees. While on the daytime show, the News Orlean Saints player revealed that he will be donating $5 million to victims of coronavirus in hard hit Louisiana.
Hoda Kotb Overwhelmed By Drew Brees Generosity
Daily Mail reported that Hoda Kotb broke down just after ending her interview with Drew Brees, who she praised for his generosity and kindness towards those suffering from the pandemic.
After she said “we love ya” to Brees as he signed off, the TODAY host became emotional and was unable to continue speaking.
As she struggled to control her sobbing, Hoda said, “I’m sorry,” before her cohost Savannah Guthrie, who is working from home, jumped in.
“Oh Hoda, I know, it’s a lot,” Guthrie said.
“Hoda I’m so sorry hun,” she continued as Kotb kept apologizing.
When Guthrie offered to take over the “tease” for the next segment, Hoda said “yes please.”

The overhwhelming emotion hit after an interview with Brees in which the New Orleans Saints quarterback admitted that “this is a devastating thing for a lot of people but especially for the state of Louisiana.”
“We have to come together and help one another,” he said as he announced his plans to make the major donation.

The clip of Hoda crying immediately went viral, with internet users praising her for the show of emotion,.

This serves as a reminder that we are facing a crisis the likes of which nobody alive has faced in their lifetime.
