A Virginia police officer has a viral hit on his hands after sharing his emotional rendition of the gospel song “The Best of Me” by Marvin Sapp. The now viral video shared by Officer Mervin Mayo on Facebook already has over 1.1 million views in less than a week. He did such a phenomenal job with this song that it even made headlines with national mainstream news networks.
Christian School Resource Officer
As a 15-year veteran of the police force, Mervin Mayo is a School Resource Officer for the Richmond Alternative School in Virginia. This police officer loves the Lord and it certainly shows in his moving and inspirational video.
In the viral video, Officer Mayo is wearing his police uniform. When the spirit moves him, he will sing no matter what he is wearing!
“I sing in or out of uniform at the drop of a dime,” the School Resource Officer said.
This song is a favorite of Officer Mayo’s and he felt the need to share it never realizing it would go viral, bringing the Word of God to so many people.

“I’ve always been inspired by this song, but for some reason, I couldn’t get it out of my head,” Mayo told local journalists. “So, I had to get to a piano immediately to minister to myself.”
Mayo is the second School Resource Officer in about a week to go viral for spreading the love of God.

Before recording this gospel song, Mayo sang it to himself as a spiritual pick-me-up. So thank goodness he eventually decided to share it with his Facebook friends, and ultimately the world.
“I had just gotten off work and stopped by the church, where I am a minister of music, on the way home to do praise and worship for myself,” Officer Mayo said. “I have to minister to myself before I can minister to someone else.”
“When everyone else around could only see my failures, God saw the best in Me… it doesn’t matter what I did, because God sees me for who I am…. He knows MY heart..,” Mayo wrote when he shared the inspiring video.
