Daniel Bryan Taking Hiatus

Reason Daniel Bryan's Been Off TV

Former WWE champion Daniel Bryan overcame the odds when he made a triumphant return to the ring.

Now, he is planning to take some time off to enjoy the pending birth of his child.

During an appearance on The Bella Twins podcast, Bryan revealed that the promotion plans to give him six weeks off for maternity leave. Brie Bella, Bryan’s wife, is pregnant with their second child.

“WWE has been great, they’re going to give me 6 weeks of maternity leave,” Bryan said (thanks to Wrestling Inc. for the quotes). “Which so few places in the United States do that. So, I’ll get to be home that first 6 weeks, but after that it’s not long until my contract is up.”

Current Plans

For now, the plan is to return after those six weeks, but Bryan did confirm that his current contract is set to expire later this year.

“We’ve been talking about what we do from there, but to me, in my mind, it’s almost, I think I’m just done being a full-time wrestler,” he said. You know what I mean?

“I love being a dad. I will always love wrestling and I will always want to do wrestling, but when I saw ‘always want to do wrestling’ that means maybe once a month or once every couple of months.”

Bryan was forced to retire in 2016 due to concussion-related symptoms. He returned two years later, competing at WrestleMania 34 in a tag match with Shane McMahon against Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn.

Chris Jericho’s Theory On Stolen AEW Title

Chris Jericho

Among the first angles for All Elite Wrestling was the case of the missing world title.

The fact that it turned out to not be an angle at all was shocking, as Chris Jericho lost the belt the night he won it at AEW: All Out. Jericho, on his way from Chicago to Tampa, he was re-routed and the belt went missing.

Jericho’s Theory

“In my opinion, I think we got picked up. I think the bag went in there. The driver said, ‘That’s kind of interesting. What could be in that?’ I think when he drove back to the airport to return the incorrect luggage, I think he might have taken a quick glance at it, saw the shiny gold, thought it was quite expensive, which it turns out it was very expensive, legit $30,000,” Jericho said (thanks to Wrestling Inc. for the quotes). “Then, called an accomplice to come meet him in the parking lot of the LongHorn. He went inside to stall and kill time, to ask the lame question (of whether his home is an apartment building or house) while the accomplice opened up the back of the limo, and the flowers fell out because he didn’t know they were in there, grabbed the title, and split.

“The driver mysteriously finds it missing, comes in, and knows that he’s not lying because he never stole it. His fingerprints aren’t anywhere they weren’t supposed to be. I’m sure the accomplice may have been wearing gloves because the CSI never found anything or maybe the CSI had DNA samples out the wazoo, but they were all in on it too! I don’t know.”

Eventually, Jericho got the belt back from police and held it for several months.
