A 10-week-old abandoned puppy has become an internet sensation for a very unusual reason. He has a tail on his face. The homeless pup is being cared for by a rescue group in Missouri called Mac the Pitbull. This unique little unicorn puppy is likely to find a home in a hurry given the whole of the internet seems to be falling for his adorable feature.
Meet Narwhal
God played a game of “Pin The Tail On The Puppy” when he created this fuzzy fellow named Narwhal. The petite puppy looks like a unicorn with an itty bitty tail between his eyes.
There are some important questions that you are probably wondering about Narwhal. Yes, he has a regular tail on his behind. And no, the tail on his face does not wag. Or at least not yet …
Unwanted And Abandoned Dog
Rochelle Steffen, who founded the rescue group Mac the Pitbull said the young dachshund beagle mix was found in rural area of Jackson, Missouri where people often dump unwanted dogs.
It’s hard to imagine anyone not wanting Narwhal!
The shelter shared on Facebook that the tail does not cause any pain and he is just like the average active puppy otherwise. The staff at the veterinarian’s office adore the little unicorn puppy and do not recommend removing the tail.

The Unicorn Puppy’s Vet Update
The rescue group shared:
One of our followers said, “It appears they assembled the puppy wrong. Always follow the directions people!” This is a true experience of having “extra parts” during assembly. Dr. Heuring said there is no real reason at this time for the unicorn tail to be removed (and we all wish it wagged)!! Pretty sure the staff at Cape Small also gushed all over this little nugget! The unicorn face tail does not bother Narwhal and he never slows down just like any normal puppy. He seems completely healthy other than some usual puppy worms he got meds for. He is not available for adoption immediately as we want him to grow a bit more and truly make sure the tail doesn’t become a bother or problem. Right now he is pretty much the most unique amazing example of what we do here and we are so thankful to have the chance to be part of his journey. Thank you everyone for helping us help them!
