NXT’s Shayna Baszler Set For Major Push

The women’s division in NXT heavily revolved around Asuka for about two years. After she vacated the NXT Women’s Championship for the main roster, someone needed to take her spot. After a short search, Shayna Baszler was the obvious pick.

Baszler was runner-up for the first Mae Young Classic and also the only two time NXT Women’s Champion. Plus, she is in her second reign, which recently surpassed 365 days.

During the Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted how WWE had big plans for Baszler on the main roster in 2020. But, there could be a slight change to those plans with NXT now on the USA Network.

Before NXT was on USA, she was being groomed for the main roster and she was going to be a star on the main roster,” said Meltzer. “They thought very, very highly of her and were absolutely plans for her on the main roster and they were significant.”

In recent weeks, the NXT roster has invaded RAW and SmackDown, with Baszler getting the better both times. At Survivor  Series later in the month, Baszler takes on SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley and RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch in a triple threat match. 

As for her NXT storyline, she is the caption for the first ever Women’s War Games Match. The former MMA fighter is also a member of the Four Horsewomen. Some could say she is current leader since Ronda Rousey is on hiatus.

AEW Dynamite Draws Low Live Audience

AEW continues to top NXT in viewership, earning their sixth consecutive win since the Wednesday Night War began. While AEW had better numbers, their viewership was at an all time low.

AEW Dynamite this past Wednesday earned 822,000 viewers, which was just above the 813,000 viewers for NXT. The latest episode of AEW came from the Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte, North Carolina and was the final one before last night’s Full Gear. 

On social media, there were plenty of fans sending out pictures with half of the arena blocked off.
