More WWE-KSA Fallout + WWE Hires New Coach

More WWE-Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Fallout

Ever since the crazy series of events surrounding the most recent Crown Jewel event, we’ve had plenty of news come in about what happened.

We first heard that there were major travel issues that were preventing WWE Superstars from leaving after the show. That led to NXT effectively taking over SmackDown. At first, the issues were reportedly completely of a mechanical nature. Since then, there have been numerous reports indicating that at least part of the reason behind the lengthy delays was some dispute between Vince McMahon and the Saudi Royal Family.

Most recently, it seems that the conflict might have been based on money due to WWE from a Saudi prince, though nothing has been confirmed as yet (and that may never be confirmed).

At the same point in time, WWE has finally released an official statement on the issues that transpired following Crown Jewel…and some Superstars were less than enthused by the wording and tone, and they took to social media to respond.

Here’s the link to the WWE statement.

WWE didn’t seem to make any Superstars happy with that release. Some even got #Top20 or #NotTop20 trending, a shot at the perception that WWE tried to get the “top 20” out over all others, and that those 20 may have funded a private plane themselves (they did not).

WWE Hires New Performance Center Coach

In non-Crown Jewel news, WWE hired a new coach recently. That new coach? Ace Steel, according to PWInsider.

Now, part of this stems from his prior stint as a guest trainer for WWE. But, it’s worth mentioning one of Ace Steel’s most famous trainees just so happens to be one of the hottest (if not the hottest) professional wrestler who has not signed with either WWE or AEW.

That man, of course, is CM Punk.

Will Ace Steel’s signing swing Punk toward a return? Honestly, I doubt this is something that moves the needle for that…but WWE seems high on the trainer, so that in and of itself is a win for the company.

John Deegan

Introduced to professional wrestling in the 1980's thanks to Superstars and Saturday Night's Main Event, John's passion for the medium was reborn thanks to ECW in the 90's. A former in-ring "talent" with a career 0-2 record, he finds it more rewarding, and far less painful, to write about wrestling now.
