Will WWE Release Sasha Banks? + Reaction To Silver King’s Passing

– Even though Sasha Banks has not appeared for WWE since WrestleMania, when she reportedly tried to quit, the company has not given up hope. Post Wrestling‘s Tom Colohue stated that WWE has no intention of releasing Banks and that they promised her a lot of things if she returns. 

Banks and WWE are at a stalemate with neither side budging. There has been some anger by Banks towards WWE for sometime as she feels the promotion has not been using her correctly. The tipping point came WrestleMania 35 weekend when Banks learned she and Bayley were dropping the Women Tag Team Championships. They just won the gold at the Elimination Chamber and were under the impression WWE would give them a lengthy run to give the titles some prestige. Then, she heard Bayley was switching to the SmackDown Brand during the Superstar Shake-Up and that was enough for “The Boss.”

At one point, Banks was going to compete in the Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder (MITB) Match, but that spot went to Dana Brooke. If Banks decided to return to WWE, many believed one of the stipulations would be that she won the MITB briefcase. 

– Sad news to report as WCW, NJPW, AAA, CMLL wrestler Silver King passed away last night at 51 years old. He was wrestling Juventud Guerrara at the Roadhouse Theatre in North London for Lucha Libre World and reportedly suffered a heart attack. WWE, several wrestlers and Nacho Libre star Jack Black sent along their condolences.

WWE is saddened to learn that Lucha Libre legend and former WCW star Silver King has passed away at age 51.

A champion luchador in his native Mexico, Silver King, real name César Cuauhtémoc González Barrón, entertained audiences across the globe, and was a standout in WCW’s Cruiserweight division in the late ’90s. Outside the ring, he appeared under a mask as the villainous Ramses in the popular 2006 comedy “Nacho Libre.”

WWE extends its deepest condolences to Silver King’s family, friends and fans.
