Young Employee Goes Above And Beyond To Include Autistic Teen – Reaps Major Reward

While so many negative stories dominate the news, it’s refreshing to hear about a young adult who does the right thing when he thinks nobody is looking. Even better is when that person is unexpectedly rewarded for his kindness.

This inspiring story took place in a Louisiana grocery store where 20-year-old Jordan Taylor works. He was stocking shelves when 17-year-old Jack Ryan Edwards and his dad came in. Jack was intently watching Jordan stock the shelves.

Jack Ryan has autism and was fascinated with Jordan’s work. Jordan noticed Jack’s interest, so he asked the teenager if he would like to help stock the shelves. Jack was excited to take up this offer. As he stocked the shelves, his dad caught it on video. The teen was so intent on completing this task as Jordan patiently taught him for a half hour. This likely slowed Jordan down, but the kind gesture meant a lot to the Edwardses.

Jack Ryan’s sister, Delaney Alwosaibi posted about this on Facebook saying, “We all know autism makes going out difficult, and sometimes grocery stores can be a challenge. This young man took the time to slow down and allow Jack Ryan to help for over 30 minutes, guiding him as he finished his task.”

“He could have ignored him. He could have made an excuse and said he couldn’t allow him to help,” Alwosaibi shared. “Instead, he let him have his moment and in turn gave my family a moment we will never forget.”

Jordan Taylor graduated from high school a couple years ago but dreamed of returning to school to become a teacher, he just didn’t have the resources for it. Jack’s family was so touched by Jordan’s thoughtful approach to the autistic teen that Delaney set up a GoFundMe to help with his college expenses. The goal was quickly smashed and currently, $113,000 has been raised to make Jordan’s college dreams a reality.

Jordan’s invitation to work as a team with Jack Ryan left the teen feeling welcomed and accepted and this kind gesture was quickly returned as Jordan will now be returning to school thanks to the GoFundMe account.
