David Cassidy Recorded Confessing The Lie He Regret Most

David Cassidy’s struggle with booze was well documented. The teen idol had a lifelong battle with alcohol dependency issues but claimed he sobered up after a 2014 stint in rehab. That apparently was not the case. The truth is incredibly depressing.

Covered Up His Drinking

In fact, Cassidy continued drinking until his death. He claimed his dementia was the source of his troubles before his death last year, but that was not true according to a shocking new documentary. The “Patridge Family” star said that was an excuse to cover up for all of his drinking.

He came clean about his drinking to A&E producer Saralena Weinfield in a recorded conversation after he was rushed to the hospital during a recording session. “I have liver disease,” Cassidy sadly told Weinfield. There is no sign of me having dementia at this stage of my life. It was complete alcohol poisoning.”

Feelings Of Sadness And Emptiness

His reason for drinking might come as a bit of shock. Many people think a star like Cassidy had it all, but that certainly was not the case. Fame and fortune cannot buy anyone happiness, even someone who was beloved by millions of people.

“The fact is that I lied about my drinking,” he said. “I did this to myself to cover up the sadness and the emptiness.”

A trailer for the upcoming docuseries can be watched in the video below. It includes Cassidy’s confession about drinking.

Drinking cost Cassidy much over his lifetime. He had three DUIs in just five years.

His children believed that he had given up booze, so this revelation will likely come as a surprise to them. The man felt so alone that he lied about having dementia to provide cover for his addiction.

A doctor told him any memory concerns were a direct result of drinking. How terribly sad!

A documentary called “David Cassidy: The Last Session” can be streamed from A&E. Cassidy died of organ failure on November 21, 2017.
