Our schools aren’t what they used to be. Many of the important basics are skipped or glossed over in favor of progressive pet projects. American History is a subject that appears to be on the back burner in many classrooms. Mark Dice pointed this out in a video about the flag.

Many of us knew about the flag by second or third grade. We knew what the stars and stripes signify. The fifty stars signify the fifty states and the thirteen stripes represent the thirteen colonies. Some of us even remember when the flag had 48 stars before two more were added when Hawaii and Alaska attained statehood.

This simple fact that many of us knew at a young age appears to not be well known to young adults, at least by young adults on a California beach. Mark Dice took to the beach to do some man-on-the-street interviewing about the American flag.

Shockingly, the people who answered the questions correctly were mostly foreigners! These non-citizens were taught more about our flag than these Californians! One man is even wearing an American flag on his shirt and he still doesn’t know how many stars or stripes are on the flag!

You might be shocked at how ignorant these Californians are in the video below!

How did they not learn this in school? This is a simple concept to remember as there are 50 states and 13 colonies. Perhaps they had the same teacher as Barack Obama, who said during his 2008 campaign that he had visited 57 of the 58 states!

He didn’t know this simple fact and he was elected President of the United States TWICE! No wonder so many people are clueless about the flag!

Share this if you know there are 50 stars on the American flag for our 50 states!
