Carrie Underwood Reveals Facial Scars In First Interview Since Fall – ‘It Wasn’t Pretty’

Country music star Carrie Underwood has just given her first television interview since her terrifying fall in November that forced her to get over 40 stitches on her face.

Daily Mail reported that Underwood sat down with “Today’s” Hoda Kotb to discuss the “freak accident” that she once thought would ruin her face forever.

“Plain and simple it was kind of a freak accident,” Carrie said. “I just fell, I just tripped taking my dogs out to do their business. It could have happened to anybody. I say, if I had fallen anywhere else, it wouldn’t have been a problem, but there was just one little step that I went to catch myself on and I missed.”

Underwood fell down the stairs of her Nashville home in November, breaking her wrist and suffering facial lacerations that were so severe she required 40-50 stitches. She went into hiding for months afterward, only showing part of her face in a few selfies. She showed her face for the first time last month at the 53rd Academy of Country Music Awards, and though she had warned her fans that she may look different, the general consensus was that she looked exactly the same.

Underwood told Kotb in her interview that she really did think she would never look the same again after the fall.

“In the beginning, I feel like, you know, I didn’t know how things were going to end up,” she said. “It just wasn’t pretty.”

Kotb told Underwood that she looks as beautiful as ever, to which the singer responded, “Thank you. I have a dedicated team of professionals who can spackle and paint and paste.”

“No, thank you. Every day I feel a little more back to normal,” Underwood added.

Twitter users made it clear that they were glad to see that Underwood was back to her normal self:

James Conrad

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
